We tend to do blocks of time...For about a month now we've been loosely studying the moon and related subjects. The moon is the base subject but we branch out on rabbit trails wherever they are interested in.

I have children with learning 'disabilities'/differences and special needs, so we very much just do a few grade appropriate worksheets or concepts, and then the rest of the time is family learning time so every one absorbs what they can but there is no pressure to perform.

We're more unschoolers/loosely structured home schoolers with a hint of waldorf and lots of montessori inspired activities thrown in.

I thought I was going to unschool but feel my son and I both thrive on structure. I am currently reading Project Based Homeschooling, hoping to get ideas.  I have half term next week so will be planning what to do for next term. What I want to know is do I do science one day, history one day, art one day and have it like that or do I do a project that lasts a week or more eg Egypt. I was thinking projects lasting a week or so would be more fun and concentrated. I was going to go through the books with my son for ideas. What works for your children? Separate subjects or projects? My son is 8 in grade 2, been out of school 3 weeks now.
