JamieCatheryn Consult her, don't surprise her since style and approach is so personal, most people don't really like most gifts we get chosen by others. She might be unsure but given options she will have an opinion. Just pick an idea or two you'd like to give and offer them, get her input. Saving effort for her and easing the load for dad too will be most valuable.

Full set of disposable dishes (lotsa cups, plates, bowls, cutlery, napkins)
A robot vacuum? ($80+ though)
Crockpot?
Nursing nightgown or comfy nursing dress
Anything off her list of things for baby she doesn't yet have (or have enough)
Anything off your own list of top essentials for baby she doesn't yet have
Large gift basket of quick healthy snacks
Shopping trip for her after baby comes when she can't go out
In depth house or yard work done for her in the first month or so

sierramtngirl I was gonna say a meal train, but sounds like you've got that covered. What about volunteering some services like cleaning or laundry? I did not have a section, but SIL did & I did some postpartum doula-like stuff (I'm not officially a pp doula btw) for her & she still talks about how much she appreciated it as even picking up a laundry basket was hard for her. I also brought a meal that was ready to eat & a repeat that was frozen for later.
ETA: I just saw she was a FTM so she probably has no idea what kind of help she needs, c section notwithstanding. I certainly had no clue!

Gift for 1st time mom having a C-section?

Hello, one of my dear friends is pregnant and due in a couple of months. I am trying to think of helpful gifts to give and this is kind of out of my zone, my own recent delivery was a home birth.
What gift would you have welcomed in the days or weeks prior to or after your c-section (that isn't very expensive)? We are already planning to organize a gravy train.

Thank you!
