The dishwasher probably just washed off the seasoning off the handle.
Same thing happens to my pot handles.
No reason IMO to throw out a perfectly good knife.

|Laurorama73||I have good quality steak knives that are only suppossed to be hand washed but somehow someone in my family ran it thru the dishwasher. I went to the website of the manufactuer and it said that dishwashing may cause corrosion of the handle due to the heat and detergent - which indeed seems to be what has happened because it's lighter now. Should I throw away the knife or is it still safe to use?? I'm bummed. I love these knives|
