TefferTWH I'm glad I'm not the only one Julie. I was talking to very AP friends tonight, and I realized that Nora's birth was amazing. We always want more, don't we?

Teffer, I feel the same way. I start reading beautiful birth stories and I stop. I can't even post a "congrats" to the mama and I feel bad about it. I am sad I didn't have a waterbirth again, but I know that things happen for a reason. And that we can not control things as much as we think we can. I feel empowered by my birth, even though I had a epi at 9cm. I believe that the epi saved me from a possible c/s, baby being in distressed and from an extremely traumatic afterbirth. The afterbirth was still traumatic, but I think it could have been way worse.

micah, so sorry to hear about your dh. My heart goes out to you.

TefferTWH 31 days pp, and I'm having some blues. I really wanted a waterbirth and it didn't happen. I keep seeing birth announcements that say born peacefully at home or in water and i get all teary. I also wish i could have cut the cord like i wanted to, no just trimmed it afterwards. it's irrational since i loved my birth but kwim when i say i know it's hormones?

hecki even had a 10 minute pity party over missing my dog and she's been dead a year.

otoh pt is going well. i'm down to one day a week and i was given the green light to start walking for exercise!!! it will help with the blues.

E's Mama micah- I'm sorry your husband is being deployed so soon after your LOs birth (or at all for that matter). I hope you have some good support near you. I'll add your name to my "safe return home soon" prayer list. Hopefully after January, we will see a difference over there...
Hang in there, Mama

mamabear0314 2 weeks pp tomorrow. Physically I'm good, I felt for my stitches in the shower yesterday (I had 2, 1 in either side of my labia) and I couldn't feel them so I think they're gone! Bleeding is slowing down. Breastfeeding is good (although I think Corbin goes too long between feedings).
I was sooo sore the first few days! I had a short labor (2 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing) and a "big" baby (10 lbs 6.5 oz).
Emotionally I haven't been doing too well. I've got a bit of ppd and my husband just found out that he's deploying to afghanistan in march or april...

snowgirl I am 4 weeks pp and feel really good. I wish the pp bleeding would stop. It is very little, just a panytliner, but would like to be pad free.

I am so happy that I am feeling normal again. I was soooo miserable at then end. I still get into bed with a big smile on my face that I can sleep better, move around much better and sleep on my belly.

I am most excited that I don't have ppd. I had it really bad with DD and was/am concerned about having it again. Still keeping an on eye on it, but it is so good to not be depressed!!: I am so in love with my little boy too. Ah...life is good.

E's Mama 5 weeks out and I fel like I am back to myself again! I have the c-sec shelf as well, and the weight is there, but I figure it took me 10 months to put it on, and it will take 10 months to take it off!
No bleeding, baby is nursing and starting to sleep better at night. My poor dog has accepted that the baby took his spot in the bed and he now sleeps on the floor (which gives me way more space at night!).
Glad to hear the updates from everyone!

ma_vie_en_rose Hi, I am 17 days pp and doing okay. I did have my c-section incision open up on me last weekend that sent me to the ER. Thankfully, it was only externally and nothing was infected. They glued me shut and put some more steri strips on. I saw my OB on Tues and she said that it is looking great and should heal up nicely. She also mentioned that this is probably due to being my 3rd c/s and not having as much blood supply to the area to promote healing.

I have officially lost all but 7lbs of baby weight, but I still am in maternity jeans waiting on my stomach to flatten out a bit more. Hopefully, I will be in my real jeans soon.

BFing is going really well. I am tandem nursing. I have had oversupply issues at night when DD2 is not up to relieve the engorgement like she does in the day. I think it is finally working itself out, though. Violet is also growing like a weed. She was 7lbs 2oz when we left the hospital (she was already regaining weight), and she was 8lbs 12oz at her 2wk check. WooHoo!!!

Om Girl I haven't left home in a week officially tomorrow. I thought I'd be stir crazy, but I'm loving being at home and taking is slow. DD is adjusting as well, though she's been asking to "go bye-bye". I think DH might take her out this weekend. I'm happily cocooning at home. Although I did try on my pre-pregnancy jeans today and could almost get them buttoned. Apparently my hips didn't stretch like they did with DD #1.
My house has never been so clean and cozy. Everyone has been so wonderful, bringing food and helping me with household stuff. Loving life at the moment! Oh and my sweet DD's are amazingly beautiful and lovely. DH remembered our anniversary and bought me a beautiful mother baby pendant with a diamond. (totally surprising me)! I'm still on a cloud 9 high from my blissful birth!

Sioko I am 3.5wks PP and my only prob is ANGRY bowels. I'm living on colace, zantac75, metamucel, and of course a multi-vit. so I feel like a pharmacy half the time and guilty for it since Bug gets all this crap in her milk and it makes her spit up more than normal.

My bottom feels fine, though too long on a hard chair leaves me sore.

A couple days ago I passed a small peice of placenta and my bleeding has slowed to a stop since then.

I am desperate for a hot bath but doc's orders are not for another 2wks

I wish my bowels would normalize, the pain without the meds is enough to knock me out and leave me dizzy for half an hour after a BM... please heal soon gut!

Bug nurses like a champ and has a nearly predictable schedule letting me sleep for 4-5hrs at a stretch at night and her belly button finally healed this week (I think) so I'm looking forward to giving her a real bath soon!

Om Girl So milk came in Monday and I had giant softballs stuffed under my armpits (milk ducts/excess breast tissue under my arms) So painful, but today it's finally starting to drain out when K nurses. She's getting herself on a bit of a schedule sleeping/eating on a consistent basis and is doing really well. My boobs are starting to get "normal" sized again, but on the larger end of things. My bottom has healed, but is still a little tender so hard chairs are not my friend.
Might go out today for the first time...still not sure.

Oh and today is my 3rd Wedding Anni...let's see if DH remembers!

darkblue0729 6 weeks pp on Monday, and things are going well. Despite the c/s, I am feeling fine (albiet not thrilled with the "shelf" of belly over my scar ) I am so NOT my prepregnancy size *wail* but dh says I am gorgeous and I totally refuse to think about it until after the holidays. Other than that, I feel back to my old self Pen is a constant nurser, so I am literally breastfeeding at least 22 hours out of any given day, which makes wrangling my 18 1/2 month old a bit tricky, but we are all mananging.
Sage- Take it easy mama!!!!
Teff- Good luck with PT
Natalie- *hugs* mama, sounds like you have your hands full!
Stardust- lmao about the boobs mama

I'm with Natalie - sounds like thrush in the ducts. Scroll down and click on Candida Protocol. I had resistant thrush in the ducts and it was very painful and this is what cured it. Not to be too frightening, but my doctors didn't treat it quickly and efficiently (I had to research on my own until my LC got involve) and it caused me to have plugged ducts for the entire rest of his nursing - 16 months of weekly plugged ducts of varying severity. Thrush sucks.

For me, I just started PT for my hips and pelvis this morning. The eval noted that I am especially weak in my core muscles, and that my pelvis is out and up on the right side, which is the cause of the pain. A wickedly good PT helped me with some exercises and behavioral changes and I'm going twice a week until my insurance runs out or I feel better. Who knew pregnancy could cause such problems afterwards?!?!?

Sage_SS I had a section two and a half weeks ago. I'm still feeling burning and pain on that left side. There's some kind of rash along the incision as well. Ouch. I still can't sit up using my stomach muscles, I have to find something to hold onto to pull myself up.

Five months of bedrest and my body forgot how to walk with any amount of stamina. I get wiped out fairly easily, but I'm impatient so I push it and end up in more pain than I need to be. Right now I don't know any other way to be.

My breasts are sore. I keep getting these shooting pains through them, I don't know what thats about.

I'm TIRED. My son wakes up every two hours to eat, and it takes about an hour before we're done and ready to go back to sleep.

And it hurts when I pee. I know I have a bladder infection, I'm hoping it will go away on its own.

i feel so lucky with this baby and everything that goes along with having a baby. i had her a week ago today and already my bleeding has stopped, she's sleeping for 5-6 hour stretches at night, i'm 7 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight and she's nursing without many problems. she just started having some difficulty latching on, but that's mine and DP's fault entirely, we got her a pacifier for the trip for the thanksgiving. i have now put it away until she really gets breastfeeding established. she's so peaceful and content, she only cries when she needs to be fed, changed or burped. she has a really distinct cry for needing to eat, so it's really easy to tell what she needs. i'm all kinds of blissed out!
i shaved today for the first time since august! it's so nice to feel all smooth. i've really felt my tears healing up in the past couple of days, they feel so much better. i'm a little annoyed because i went through my entire pregnancy with NO sex drive and now it's come back with full force and i can't do a damned thing about it! aaahhh.
the sex drive thing is so bizarre, if i could i would be dtd asap, but of course here i am in reality with a 2inch bleeding gape in my vag! i was so sick during a lot of my pregnancy that dtd was ok but not something i really craved, now i have sex dreams every night and am filled with desire. if only my body would follow my mind and heal up quick!

Erlaine 10 days pp here. It's interesting being in cmty and the kind of support we've gotten...dh has felt a little crazy, though, like he's doing all the support of me and no one is supporting him. Physically I feel ok. Did waaay too much 1 and 2 days pp when MIL was here and I let her hold dd practically every minute until she left. Now I feel resentment about that - live and learn I guess.

Still bleeding, but pain while peeing is way less.

It's very hard to face 100 people at meals so usually someone has been bringing me food. It's also getting hard to let people cook for me when I really want to make me own stuff. This seems like a high-class problem.

emc03 12 days PP and we're doing great. dh won't let me clean and i'm milking that one! milk has been flowing since day 3 and belly keeps going down. day 4 was a misery w/migraines, cramps, shakes, etc. but then it just went away. still can't quite fit in old clothes, but i should in a couple of weeks. plan to start getting out for small trips and maybe some yoga at home. just need dylan to start napping in his bed during the day. pumping should begin by week 3 so dh can take some night shifts.

Om Girl 3 days PP and I feel GREAT! : in love with my new DD. She's an absolute princess. We're so blessed. My bottom is healing, my belly is shrinking and I'm up and taking it easy. 2 days of lying-in while my 2.5 yo DD went to visit Grandma helped immensely. My bleeding has slowed and regular baths and comfrey tea peri spray are helping. My house is clean and my fridge is stocked! Life is wonderful! (Oh and it's beautiful outside with 1" of fresh snow on the ground!) Just waiting for my milk to come in...

natalieadw Gosh, I'm five weeks postpartum, and still feel like I've been hit by a truck! Bella is still a mess since Spencer has been born, and we are still working on schedules and stuff.

One week after Spencer was born, DH, Bella, and Spencer all had walking pneumonia so that was soooo difficult. Then Bella was on abx for it, and got a yeast infection, that turned into thrush, then gave it to me, then I gave it to Spencer! We still have not won the thrush battle....ughh...and I'm not sure if we ever will.

Perinium-wise....welll not so good. I just had to go to get a granuloma inspected, and they used silver nitrate (yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooooowwwwwww) to burn it off. I have two weeks to see if heals on its own before i go in and have to have it all cut down and stitched. It was a skid mark that wasn't stitched initially and it healed funny and turned in to a granuloma. So that area still hurts.

I've been doing kegels, but the weird thing is, I feel like I'm constantly pushing those muscles inadvertently. I don't know how NOT to do it, it just happens whenever I'm not consciously thinking of doing kegels. Any suggestions?

DH scheduled me for a massage for today, but I can't go since I can't lay on these HUGE boobs that are just asking for another (this would be the sixth) plugged duct. I still have oversupply and over active letdown, so nights and mornings are just awful. Bella has completely stopped eating, and is only nursing now. She's a 2.5 year old with a SUCKING BLISTER!! I feel so drained, and tired. At least I'm losing weight though, but I really need to eat better because nursing two and nourishing three, is a tough job!!

THANKS FOR LISTENING TO ME WHINE
11-28-2008 10:25 PM
peainthepod I'm doing really well. My stitched perineal tear is healing nicely and today is the first day since the birth that I haven't had any heavy red bleeding. I'm still easily tired and am trying to take it easy. BFing is going very well and Felix seems to be thriving.

My stomach did go down a lot and I think my thighs are less chubby, but my body is nothing like it was pre-pregnancy. I'm really not liking the way I look, but I'm trying to be gentle with myself since I'm not even 3 weeks postpartum yet. I want nothing more than to leave the house and start taking long walks with the baby in the sling, but every time I do that my lochia comes back with a vengeance.

Still, the baby and I are both very healthy and snuggling together on these chilly fall mornings has been amazing. What an awesome thing, motherhood. :

hannybanany 2 weeks 1 day PP today and feeling pretty good. My bleeding stopped on Monday, but started up again. We traveled for Thanksgiving, though, so I think the extra activity is what did it. I'm going to try to rest (ha!) this weekend. I was sore 'down there' for about 5 days - I had a second degree tear - but sitting on the Boppy for those 5 days made things slightly more bearable.

My milk came in at 2 days PP, and by 5 days old DD was 4 ounces above her birthweight : I had a difficult start with DD1, so I feel quite blessed that things are going so well this time. :

Tomorrow is my first day alone with the two kids and I'm feeling a bit nervous.

RebeccaWo It's so reassuring reading this thread! I'm 3 weeks PP today. Still bleeding enough to need a pad, but it's been decreasing each day. Breastfeeding is going really well after a rocky start. Trying to start building a stash, but pumping too much really leaves me engorged and uncomfortable the next day. Still kinda hard to believe I'm a mom!
11-28-2008 04:46 PM
mochimama Physically doing great here--about 2.5 weeks pp I'm pretty much done bleeding and my tiny tear feels all healed up. Not ready to dtd, though. I've got more stretch marks this time, but they aren't too bad. I've got about 20 lbs to lose to be back to prepreg weight. Ugh. I can't believe how much my stomach has gone down, though. I'm taking a few walks here and there, but not ready to go gung ho exercising like I did after dd. I don't have that kind of energy anymore. BFing is going great and I'm so relieved after having a bit of trouble with dd1. Dd2 gained about a half a pound this past week and I'm overjoyed! We're just nursing 24/7--in the sling, on the go, on the couch, at night in the bed, etc. etc.

Emotionally is another story. My MIL who has been here since day two pp just left this morning and although she was a big help, I'm glad it's just me and dh and our girls now. I'm having a lot of trouble with dd1. I just need to get our routine nailed down and stick to it. I think she's looking for structure and with her grandma here and us never going out of the house I think she's a bit overwhelmed and stir crazy all at the same time. I realized that with one dc, we could sort of let her run the show, but with two, that can't happen. There's got to be some order to the chaos or nothing would ever get done. We are challenged by dd1's food allergies as well and that makes cooking take all that much extra time. Ugh. We do have friends bringing us dinner all this week and then my folks come the week after for 6 nights. Not sure how we'll stick to the new "schedule" during all that, but it's got to happen for sanity's sake.
11-28-2008 04:42 PM
kitkat5505 I'm 2wk 1d pp and feeling pretty good. Much better than my first c/s, even though I had a harder labor before this one. I've been healing twice as fast this time. If I wasn't still having a little bleeding I'd be up to having sex again already. My scar is already less visible than my old scar was, except for on one end where a tiny spot healed weird. I'm pretty exhausted, Nathan wakes up every 2-3 hours at night to eat. But he is pretty easy-going and naps good during the day.
11-28-2008 03:59 PM
Patchfire Physically, I feel pretty darn good - one week & one day postpartum. We even hosted Thanksgiving here (for eleven people, though only ten of them were eating solid food ). I didn't tear at all, so perineum-wise, I've felt pretty good since forty-eight hours or so after the birth. The bleeding did taper off significantly, but it's still bright red. The most interesting part of my physical recovery was the five inch by five inch piece of amniotic sac I had to pull the rest of the way out of me on Sunday morning!

My milk came in between 48 and 72 hours post-birth. Ds has been helping me with the 'extra na-na.'

Emotionally... I'm doing okay. I haven't had any 'episodes' of totally losing it (which I really did with dd1, and did somewhat with ds), but I keep feeling like I'm really close to doing so, and then I pull back. There's also this issue that while I don't feel ready to say that I am done being pregnant, giving birth, having a newborn after Brigid, I feel like my *family* is complete at three kids. So there's definitely a lot of emotion about 'if I were doing this again' and 'I'm never going to do this with another baby after this.'
