Unassisted pregnancy and birth meaning no doctors or midwives. I will look after myself.

Though I can't eat atm. Its awful.

Oh and in Australia we are not required to pay for prenatal care unless you are going Private. So yeah it is usually free anyway.

Sorry I can't remember who it was - but about techs who don't communicate during u/s. I wanted to cry and run away. Then 3 days later the Dr says "Your pregnancy is not viable."

clutterbug Update on my nausea pattern (worse on Thurs-Sun). So, I was out and about all day today and while I still had my moments, I didn't feel nearly as crappy as yesterday. So I think my little pattern is that Mon-Wed, I tend to be out more, I fit in my walks, go to library, etc...and then the remainder of the week I slack off and stay home. NO MORE!! I am going to be go, go, go as much as I can from here on in
10-02-2010 05:21 PM
kmb9906 I had a DELISH plain cake donut with a small skim latte this morning. It was my little slice of heaven.

I was craving donuts too! And we never have donuts! DH was kind enough to run over to a bakery about 25 minutes away and pick up a dozen! It's nice that my kids are still too young to complain when they only get to have 1/2 of a donut while mommy eats 2!

yeah!! sorry about the landslide, but at least your getting on the right meds for you and baby! i have several friends of my kids who are hearing impaired, cochlear implants hearing aids etc....my kids are ASL adept. the kids are amazing! its like without the sound sense their other scenes are attuned, touch sight focus etc....that is the silver lining for their parents. good luck on your new journey!

kmb9906 I just registered for a 5K race next Saturday. I'm sure my time will be horrible, but it feels so good to be able to exercise and run while pregnant! I think it'll be quite a feeling to cross that finish line at 10wks!

waterjen I can't read most of the new posts bc people are talking about food. Yuck!

I'm not vomiting but I'm nauseous. I'm at 8 weeks.
I have had an eventful week, though I've hardly left the house, bc I don't have much energy and I don't want to be around people very much.
I am working through some stuff about becoming a mom to two, and about tandem nursing (reading the LLL book Adventures in Tandem Nursing), and am feeling better about some anxieties I've been having about all the changes going on.
I met my midwife and I am really happy and inspired by my visit. I am switching this time (had a homebirth CPM last time) and this time based on friend's recommendations I have met with a local lay midwife who is more hands-off and less busy and I am so deeply pleased about the fit. She is just who I need right now. So I am excited about that and feeling a little more settled in this pregnancy, although I think I may not be fully settled with it until a little later on, it is early yet...

MommyPants I know better than to click the link and since I haven't had McDonald's in a couple years anyway... yeah.

Evergreen, I hope you've found something good to eat!

I've been craving grilled cheese sandwiches like nobody's business! :P And we are dairy and soy free so there is only 1 kind of cheese we've found that we can have and they only carry it at 2 local stores (which are both enough of a drive). So, when I ran out of cheese last week it was a few days before I could have another one. It was rough! I've been putting on some kind of meat with it, because the cheese has no real nutritional value at all, so I've at least been adding some protein.

And, the past 3 days have just been such a roller coaster! I hope the stress is not affecting the baby. Wednesday we found out DD is going to need a hearing aid, which was tough. Then Wednesday night I started the bleeding. Thursday we did bloodwork and the ultrasound. The ultrasound was good, so we thought things were good. Yesterday the mw called back and she had spent 2 hours on the phone with a specialized pharmacist talking about me! I cannot imagine a doctor doing that! Anyway, they found out that while my numbers all *looked* good, because of my Armour thyroid, I need twice the amount of progesterone that a "normal" pregnancy would need. So, I was probably on track to lose this baby too, because we didn't know that. So, they are switching my thyroid meds to one that is more easily absorbed, put me on progesterone and on some intense vitamins. I haven't taken the vitamins yet - hoping that goes well. THEN, my blood sugars have come back low both times that my mw has drawn blood, and she is concerned about hypoglycemia - which everyone who knows me has known is a problem for a LONG time but no one has ever actually tested my sugar and found it low before! So, I'm not pricking my finger and testing my sugars 4 times a day. It's like a landslide of things, but they are really all good. If we hadn't done the second set of bloodwork and talked to the pharmacist, I probably would have lost this baby too, but now it looks like things will be ok! I am just so grateful to whatever spirits are watching over me and keeping us safe. Now, hopefully I'll be able to swallow these gargantuan vitamins without puking! :P

slb1107 Yum Ramen....I've been eating it most of my life lol

Right now I want donuts for breakfast!!! So I'm gonna go get some before work lol

Last week I was bloated..this week my stomach has just been "not happy" lol I'm still not getting sick or feeling sick. And my boobs are no longer sore..I really don't have any symptoms.

As far as clothes..JCPenney had 2.97 maternity clothes on sale and I found 3 shirts I liked. I'm waiting til I need them to buy more but didn't wanna miss out on a sale.

kmb9906 Ahhh, ginger ale. Yeeeessss.

I am SO hoping the nausea starts fading soon, because this just sucks.
10-01-2010 09:08 PM
kristenburgess I know how you gals feel with nothing sounding good, but being hungry. I'm the same way. We eat pretty much grain-free all the time, but last night I broke down and got a sandwich from our local brick-oven bakery. They make their bread with long-soak fermenting (and their mother is decades old!). I honestly felt so much better today after eating that hearty sandwich and really getting full. This morning I had more energy and felt better than I have all week. I think I'm going to eat what proteins I can to really get full and satisfied and not try and choke down chicken and other proteins that aren't working for me...

I almost barfed, seriously. Why did I look at this right before dinner? I made my DH look at it too. He said in the US they don't allow bones, eyes, guts in there (referencing the show Jamie Oliver did about school lunches.) Is that true?

Wahhhh!
<-- twins because misery loves company!

I soooo know how you feel. This is exactly how I feel right now. I'm nauseated no matter what, and if I eat the wrong thing, I am puking. I just barely got some Ritz crackers down. I usually can't STOP eating Ritz crackers, but ugh, so unappetizing. I don't really want to eat anything. DH was a love and went out and got chicken-flavored Ramen just for me. If I can't get anything else down, I'm probably going to break that open. It's so funny, because I'm pregnant so I *want* to eat healthy. I want to eat fruits, veggies, and good whole grains. But, the pregnancy is making it so I literally can't! The nausea is hard, though.

L&K'smommie Evergreen- Hugs! I am right there with you today. I need to eat but just thinking about eating anything we actually have in the house makes me want to puke. Ugh.

Ramen...that sounds good. So far the things that have sounded and tasted best in the past 2 weeks have been pizza and McDonald's...how's that for healthy? And bread...any kind.
10-01-2010 06:11 PM
camprunner Food's not bothering me so much except that sometimes I really want food that's not available. Nausea has been very light this time only off and on. I do NOT want sweets though. I'll eat them if it's all we have (pancakes and sugared strawberries for breakfast that I did not have to fix) but over all would like veggies.

I'm extremely tired these past few days? Maybe I am not handling it well. I finally broke down and took a nap after lying around useless all morning. It was a 2 hour nap compared to the 4 hours I used to need with dd2 so maybe this will pass....
10-01-2010 05:36 PM
MamaChef Nothing sounds really good lately. Every time I think, maybe something sweet or carby will be good and eat it I feel even more nausea then before.

I sent DH to the store so I can make chicken/veggie enchiladas and Chicken/veggie Noodle soup. Hubby is a vegetarian and Im not during pregnancy and sometimes even when Im not pregnant or nursing. Both of those sound okay to me.. but who knows how Ill feel by the time I make them. What I really need is a big batch of something I like that is moderately healthy that I can eat for a few days and I know Id feel better. I just havent been able to keep quality foods in my stomach. Everything sounds disgusting. Hubby has been getting alot of takeout and although we try to get healthier options, there just arent many. YKWIM?

Ramen sounds not that bad, actually.

Fashion..
Im just so ugh about all the maternity fashion right now. I think Ill end up a gap maternity ad I, of course, love everything olian and maternal america make.. but there is no way Im paying that kind of money for clothes. Ive looked at Ebay and nothing too great has come up yet. My problem is the bust. I have large breasts not pregnant and then once you throw pregnancy on it... Plus, Im trying to find clearance end of summer stuff for our trip to HI in Jan. Im already a little worried about being too hot. When we went in May I got a bit dehydrated and overheated and I was really trying to push alot of water. Dehydrated and overheated at 6 months sounds not that good.. so I want really lightweight breathable stuff. I think Ill probably just live in a few maxi dresses and bathing suits. I really wish I didnt have to order the bathing suit online, but no place local has maternity bathing suits right now.

I'm excited because Im decorating DDs room right now. She cosleeps and will continue after the baby comes, but I wanted to make her room more comfortable for her.. and for me, incase Im up at night with the baby and dont want to wake everyone in the family bed. We found a super cute daybed on craigslist with a popup trundle and a dresser.. So all I have to do is make a couple pillow shams and drapes and DH will paint. We organized last week and put in a new closet system. I was going to put the crib up in there too for naps. We originally sidecarred it on our bed, but gave up and just put two queens on the floor because she didnt want to sleep on the crib mattress when she could scootch over and sleep on the fluffy pillowtop. But I think it will be good to have a place where baby can go to nap during the day.

Trying to keep busy so I dont lay around and focus on how crappy Im feeling.

Sister!!!! I was babysitting the other night and she had some and it sounded sooooo delish, I was so excited about it! Today I really want chicken flavor though or shrimp...yum (yuck?)

meander I'm taking a short trip this weekend. I haven't spent more than 8 hours awake any day this week, so we'll see how I do travelling! I hope DH is prepared to amuse himself while I sleep. This will be my first plane flight in many years without sedatives, so I'm a little nervous.
On the *very* plus side, I've been managing well the last few days keeping the nausea at bay. So I don't think I'll spend the trip puking at least. I really do have to keep food in my stomach at all times, but that is a small price to pay. (I bet it's only temporary, but I will be happy as long as it lasts!)
