Amelia June was born May 3rd at 5:34 am.  7lbs 14.5 oz.  I labored in the tub for two hours, then made it to the hospital by 1:15 a had an epi. to help with painful burning contractions, I've never felt my cervix feel like that!  I could still feel cx and that I needed to push though. She only took two pushes!

Baby Siya arrived at 6:30 Tuesday morning.  She weighed 4lbs, 15oz.  She's super sweet and we love her to pieces.  Our homebirth was longer than I would have thought, but all went well.  Here's a picture of her.IMG_2425.JPG

Ugh, I had bad mama drama too. It's so hard, and so sad :(

It's entirely possible for the kids to miss the entire birth, as is what happened with me. But of course you can't plan on that happening <hug> Yay for doulas

My mother came from out of state to help me out but ended up leaving before I have the baby because of some ridiculous drama infused reasons. So now there will be no one to watch the kids at my home birth. Thankfully I have a wonderful doula and we'll manage to make everything work but this was definitely not how I envisioned things.

I'm having painful contractions off and on all day long, especially when I walk around, yet my cervix is still slammed shut.

I hope everyone else is having a better day than I am. Every time I log on here I hope to see news of more babies arriving. Who is next?

Sorry, Lauren, that stinks!  Upside...you do NOT want that kind of energy at your birth.  Maybe your cervix will open up now...  here's hoping the baby comes at night while the kiddos are sleeping.  Any friends you can enlist to help?

I'm 41w3d and had acupuncture and an adjustment today...hoping that will get things started for us!

Hang in there, momma!

Probably not me.  40w6d today and trying to gear up for a castor oil induction on Sunday.  Yum.  That stinks about your mom :(  Do you have any friends you can ask to watch the kids?  Even a paid babysitter to come play with them if its during the day?

I went to a MFM 3 days before the baby was born and their u/s tech estimated 6lb 8oz to 6lb 10z. The baby was 6lb 9oz!

Congrats to you Mandy!!  Can't wait to read your birth story!

I did 4oz of castor oil to get me into labor this time.  I'd never done it before.  I didn't think it was so bad, didn't mix it just chugged it and it worked- had the baby 8 hours after taking it.  Wish I hadn't had to go that route though, it was a pretty intense labor.  If my water hadn't started leaking I wouldn't have done it.

I had an ultrasound the same day I had the baby and they said he was approx. 7lbs 6oz but he was born at 8lbs 13oz.  of course there was a student doing it- all I was there for was an AFI and the real tech did that and then the student did measurements so she could check it off of her list.  (they asked 1st if it was okay) but obviously she needs more practice.  I'm sure the peri. is Much, much more accurate!!

Good luck this week everyone!

The weight is by the perinatologists who have a track record of being +/- 1/2 a pound.  Not the usual 1 pound.

Kids 1-4 were all inductions for going 41 weeks.

I got desperate and tried the castor oil last weekend and I wouldn't recommend it... horrible diarrhea and burning and I only took 2 tablespoons :( I will NEVER resort to that again, no matter what. I've tried everything possible to start labour, but all I ever get is practice and not real labour, it sucks. I'll be getting induced next weekend if no labour before then too. Bleh.

I have heard that not taking enough castor oil will do that...  I tried with DS and only took a couple tablespoons and vomited it all right back up.  When I took it with DD I took the recommended 2 oz. and it worked like it was supposed to.  Labor went on for 30 hours after that though.  My MW said she makes everyone take 2 doses, one four hours after the first, since she doesn't think one is enough to really start labor.  My water had been broken for 14 hours with DD but no contractions at all and 2 days before I wasn't dialated at all.  I will be naturally inducing to start... castor oil, nipple stim, hoping that will be enough.  If not then possibly AROM and/or pitocin.

How are they predicting?  Via ultrasound?  They thought my first was over 10 and he was 8lb13oz so those can be off by a lot.  How big were your others?  Have you been induced before?
