I love those tips- so simple and yet so easy to forget at times. I especially like the 10-min bursts of cleaning. It can get overwhelming just to think about all the cleaning with 3 little ones around. 10 min burts are more easily digestable!  And the Wonder Board- GREAT idea. Love it. Will definitely be sharing!

One thing we do when we sit down for dinner together, or are returning from a day out is that we play the Highlight-Lowlight game.  We all each taking turns sharing what we liked most and what we liked least about our day at school/work or out and about.  The kids love it and now remind me when  I forget to start the game. :)

I'm inspired by the tips for sustainable living but really - pushing myself to practice some of the tips for sustainable relationships.  I think we need a dose of that around here!  (Mostly right now - stop, make eye contact and listen)  Love the tips for sustainable learning!

My daughter is tie between intrapersonal and interpersonal on the evaluation

although I thought she'd be more on the musical side

she is a balanced learner :):)

I am enjoying the homeschool experience with my 7 year old daughter. She is entering second grade material. We would love to use the oak Meadow curriculum for her next year!

I love mothering and have gotten much support reading articles in that magazine. Thank you!

I will be homeschooling my little boy for the first time this year, I've already liked both Oak Meadow and Mothering on FB. Why homeschool? Because I cannot imagine any other way of existence for our family. The freedom it allows, the family experiences that you cannot put a price on, to be the one that experiences his joy when he learns something new, instead of hearing about it second hand at the end of the day. There are too many reasons to name, why homeschool? Why not?

Corinne Ryan homeschooling is not convenient for us, it is worth it. Not having to push push push my child to deny ALL of his natural desires to talk his way through learning is reason enough. There is no room in a traditional classroom for a verbal creative learner. This first year has been difficult but Im so glad my son has some room to be himself.

We're homeschooling our Daughters with the Oak Meadow curriculum in the Fall.  We want them to have a natural and creative education where learning can be fun!  I love the idea of tailoring education to each child's unique needs.

Already a fan of mothering, liked Oak Meadow on Facebook!

Took the evaluation!  My daughter, not surprisingly, is musical!  That little girl loves to sing!

saritajane Why homeschool?
Because I can tailor the material to my daughter's interests, we can pick our own pace, but most important to me is that she will be able to learn in an environment where she is secure and free to be herself.

Why Homeschool?
We tried our daughter in public kindergarten. She could read Lord of the Rings by Winter break from our teaching at home. She started hiding books when I would walk her in and have her read to me before class.. She went backward thanks to public school. We homeschooled her for first through fifth grade. Sixth grade found me having to take a job to make ends meet, so she was put in a charter technology school. She hates it. teacher is unwelcoming, her grades are suffering. The child I put into public school for sixth grade at a 10th grade spelling level is now making a C in English. A C!

So next year she is coming back home.

We also have a little boy who will be entering kindergarten next year.

We homeschool because it allows us flexibility. We can take a May vacation and take the kids to see the stuff we are studying about. We can visit places our  Family has lived since they came here just prior to the revolutionary war. We can have no school cause of a rare sunny or snowy day. We can be together. My children are so close.. They are kind. They are polite.

My daughter is horrified this year by the language used so passingly by her fellow students.

We homeschool because in 3 hours we can do SO much more than the schools can do in 7.

We homeschool because it keeps our family whole and together and kind to each other.

We homeschool because it takes a team to do it. A family is where you learn to get a long, learn to fix mistakes and learn how to relate to others. You learn how to learn.

So we homeschool to fully teach our children what it is to be a good person. What it takes to take learning and responsibility into their own hands..

We homeschool because we are blessed to be able to and because we want the best for our kids.

The evaluation was really helpful and I also liked the Mothering and Oak Meadow FB pages.  My daughter attends a Waldorf school now but I'm thinking about homeschooling her and Oak Meadow looks like a great curriculum and now I know they have a distance-learning school too.  Thanks for sharing this information!
