QueenOfTheMeadow We've found that a daily dose of MSM (it's a supplement, not prescription med) really cut down on the need for daily asthma medication for my son.

pepin My daughter has been using Flovent for the last number of years. She does 2 puffs before bed.

DOH! We are supposed to start QVAR after we are finished with Flovent and I did not know it had side effects. Great. It is very expensive.

Well, at least now I know that it is definitely time to switch doctors. Been unhappy and dissatisfied with ours for a while now.

Thank you for posting and keeping me and others more aware.

Best Preventative Asthma Meds? Fewer scary side effects?

My young teen daughter's asthma was being controlled very well by daily use of Qvar, but it had the rare side effect of depression and anxiety, so we need to try something else...She uses an albuterol rescue inhaler many times a day so especially now w/ so much pollen, she needs something preventative or longer lasting, but I want to avoid qny that have been associated with mental problems (I've heard of Qvar and Singular having this side effect on message boards...) Any advice on what has worked for your child?
