jodieanneanton Today was my first day of pubic bone pain. *Yeay!* Gotta get back to the chiro. I am due for an adjustment next week.
cagnew I don't know if I pulled a small muscle in my "upper belly" or what, but I've been having a very uncomfortable sore, sort of poking feeling there. It's even sore if I push on it. I noticed it last night and felt it every time I rolled over... had to roll over very carefully. Blah. This is something I've not had before and I feel it every time I pick up the little one or bend down and straighten up. It could be from painting the bathroom the last two days I guess. Going to take it easy today and maybe wrap my tummy.

dentonmidwife And the heartburn started last night.

Silverbirch Omg, the swelling of my nether regions! I completely relate to wanting to hold everything in with my hand between my legs
I'm starting to waddle already when I walk the dog too..

bren94 My nipples are hurting pretty bad. And I can't get comfortable at night for anything. I toss and turn until I exhaust myself and just pass out. Yesterday I got a spa pedicure and it was so nice but my feet are right back to feeling swollen and achy. And people keep telling me to wait for the 3rd trimester...yaaaay.
09-29-2014 08:46 AM
honeybunmom Varicose veins. And they are painful. Just on my right leg. But not painful enough to make me fork over $65 for compression tights at Destination Maternity yesterday. YIKES! I just went with the low end ones at $18 a pop which were bad enough. I have had like 3 new ones bulge up hideously on my leg.

And yes, I still have sore boobs. Especially my nipples. Ouch. I am not looking forward to the Hoover that will be sucking on them 4.5 months from now. I wish there were some numbing agent I could use to get through those first 2 weeks or so of painful nursing.
09-29-2014 05:50 AM
DuchessTergie I have swelling in my nether regions from time to time. Not my fave symptom I've had.

And I had the opposite desires from Dentonmidwife-- I just finished weaning DD2. I was just too aggravated to continue.
09-29-2014 05:16 AM
dentonmidwife I am starting to get that "I need to nurse now" feeling. Last I checked, there was no colostrum.

I feel that. Isn't that what they call the 'pelvic floor'? I wonder if there's something that can be done. Right now it's just if I walk a lot in one day, but by the end it's any time I stand up or walk at all.

cagnew Wow, that sounds like some crazy amounts of milk! I have a bit of an oversupply, but nothing like that! I usually just let some squirt into a burp cloth for a minute, then I'm good to go.

My breasts are settling down a bit. Still kind of sore, but much better than they were.

boscopup Yes, mine are sore and sometimes get spots that feel kind of like a clogged duct. I don't remember this from my other 3 pregnancies. I did have oversupply and overactive letdown with all 3 kids, and my second had a lot of trouble when my milk came in. I had to pump while my husband used a baby spoon to feed him just enough milk to calm him down, then we'd transfer him to me now that the pump had taken the brunt of the letdown. After about 12 hours, he was nursing normally. The night prior, he'd had no wet diapers and was starting to get quite jaundiced.

mama2toby Is anyone still having breast pain? A couple weeks ago my breast tenderness kicked up a notch after being gone for a few weeks. Now they are super achy, especially in one spot, and my nipples are super tender too. I noticed that I already have colostrum, it's arrival may have actually coincided with the breast pain. I even had a dream the other night that I could feel my milk coming down, it was very realistic and tripped me out. I'm already so paranoid about breastfeeding. I make A LOT of milk, and my first babe had a hard time with my forceful letdown. I also had recurring mastitis. With the second the first was still nursing so I had much less troubles. I'm just worried about this time being more like the first. That wasn't fun. I guess I should add they both went on to nurse till they were four and a half, so it all worked out. Right now I just keep telling my breasts to chill out!

boscopup SI joint pain here too, though this is not due to pregnancy for me. I fell off a horse when I was 15, and I've had SI joint problems off and on throughout the 20+ years since then. I suspect I fractured something at the time, but my mom never took me to the doctor. It took weeks to get over the initial injury.

So far, I have NOT had SPD yet this pregnancy. I had that with my last two. I can still walk just fine right now. That may change, of course! Last two pregnancies, twice weekly chiro visits kept me walking.

sarafl Heartburn. And I haven't eaten any heartburn causing foods, either. I was really hoping to avoid that fun symptom. :-(

alivewithyou My stomach has been rock solid all day today. I'm wondering if it's because I received IV fluids last night, but I don't think it's braxton hicks. It has just stayed hard.. no softening and hardening again. It's not painful but it is uncomfortable.. feels like my skin is being stretched to the breaking point haha. Anyway, can anyone relate to this? I'm thinking it's normal… not sure if baby might be balled up in one spot or something either.
09-24-2014 06:28 PM
jodieanneanton @happyday8598 , YES! I have been noticing that a lot lately, too!

Also... I have officially outgrown my I cup... Prob will wait to get a new bra until after babe arrives, though. :/

Valerie11 I think I might be having SPD. I don't know that there's a way to confirm it without an X-ray showing the gap, and of course that's not going to happen. I find that if I'm on my feet for a while or walk very far (like I did today at the mall), that I have this pain inside my body between my leg and crotch (sorry, can't think of a better word at the moment). I guess it's the relaxin working its magic on my bones or something. Attaching a picture for anyone like me who hasn't heard of Sympysis Pubis Dysfunction.

happyday, I think I know what you're talking about with the shooting pains. I don't get them with cold, but I do get them every so often. Who knows?!
09-23-2014 10:11 AM
happyday8598 With the cooler temperatures the reminder of another pregnancy symptom returns... SORE NIPPLES!! This is how I knew I was pregnant with my 1st (I found out in November, brrr! OUCH!!) I don't know what it is about the cold, but it sends aching shooting pains straight through my nipples! it's different than the typical early stage of pregnancy sore boobs... Not sure what causes it, but... it's sure to keep me bundled up nice!!

cagnew Duchess: My boobs took their sweet time this time too, but now they are definitely here. DH noticed the other day and said, "Wow. Usually when you stop breastfeeding you get kind of flat. This time they've perked all up. Nice!" Hahaha.

Braxton Hicks: With my first pregnancy I started getting those around 16 weeks and they continued through the whole pregnancy. The OB said I had an irritable uterus. None of my other pregnancies were like that though. I've definitely heard of them starting even earlier than 16 weeks though.

forest: I've been feeling a lot worse lately too. I'm 15 weeks. This morning I was actually feeling a little angry that I was nauseous still. I even gagged! That's not typical for me at all. I wonder if a diet change of some sort is needed. It just seems odd that it's getting stronger when it should be going away. Maybe I am not eating enough. Or maybe it's IBS related. I might start keeping a food diary.

forestlover75 Glad to report SI pain has mellowed. Maybe my tilted uterus has moved forward, or had just grown beyond that triggering nerve? I don't know. But the WORST nausea of the pregnancy has set in (at 13 weeks no less...what's that about??) and I have thrown up twice now. I am really feeling for all of you who throw up regularly... it is HORRIBLE. Luckily, I feel a million times better afterwards. Both times it was an hour or so after eating yogurt and fruit... starting to wonder if this babe is allergic to strawberries or something. Hope not, but planning to lay of strawberries for a while.

DuchessTergie My boobs finally came. Yippee!!!! Goodbye, so-sad-weaning-boobs.

Also, Braxton Hicks? Is it even possible now? My uterus is tender, but at intervals. Maybe baby bumps it?
08-11-2014 08:41 AM
cagnew I'm still getting random days of nausea as well. It's getting discouraging because I am 15 weeks and *supposed* to be over this. Last night was rough.

I think I'm on the hormonal side right now too. I went to a baby shower yesterday and it was mostly people I used to be friends with. It's a really long story, but I left feeling lonely and depressed. Unfortunately, that depressed and blue feeling has crossed-over into today and I can't seem to shake it. I don't have depression problems, so I know it will pass. For now though, all I want to do is be alone and cry (which, of course, I cannot do because mommy has to be mommy all the time).

Valerie11 alivewithyou, I am with you. Usually when I come in the kitchen and the smell of flour or something like that hits me I just dry heave for a bit and then get breakfast and go about the day. I feel better doing it on an empty stomach because then at least I'm not wasting food.
08-11-2014 06:41 AM
alivewithyou 12 weeks almost and still hurling in the morning. I don't really feel too bad but then it just hits and my stomach has to empty.. which is pretty fun when it's just stomach acid.

It hurts sometimes when I am compressing my food during walking, or standing up, and seems to ease momentarily when I walk up stairs or do squats. Unfortunately, when I looked it up I saw some scary stuff about "incarcerated uterus" being linked with sacral pain. Now I am half freaking out that either my tilted uterus isn't moving forward as it should, or that I have 6 months of SIJ pain to look forward to!

Any helpful tips or thoughts about this are welcome!

Thanks

Umm, so not much advice but lots of
Commiseration. I have had this pain as a muscle spasm since my last pregnancy, and it's been back to the good old pinch in my left lower back that I get every pregnancy. I do notice that it is much lessened when I exercise regularly.

DuchessTergie The first part was supposed to quote Luckiest-- I have no idea what happened.

DuchessTergie If you have low adrenal output or are under lots of stress (of any kind), your adrenals won't be able to do their part to keep your pelvis stable and you can end up with a wonky pelvis and lower back/SI pain.

THIS is interesting. I had PSD my 2nd pregnancy and had to see a chiro starting at 17 weeks or so. I thought it was because I was running too much (which was FAR less than my previous PG). Well, this theory sheds some light: my husband was sent on back-to-back deployments (7 months at sea, 4 months at home, another 8 months gone) and my DD1 was in the peak of her tantruming phase. The stress was INTENSE. As the tension mounted at home, my pelvis hurt more and more and my chiropractic visits increased to twice a week some weeks.

Maybe I can address any potential adrenal fatigue NOW to prevent being so wrecked in a few months.

luckiest Chiro care really helped my SI pain with my last pregnancy, although it was never really bad. Even not pregnant, I tend to have a chronic "stuck" feeling in my left SI joint; not painful, but definitely there and rather annoying. Like it really needs to pop but won't. It won't hold an adjustment for longer than a day, either.

A bizarre factoid - your adrenals glands are involved in keeping your pelvis stable. I'm not very clear on the exact mechanism going on, but it's something Dr Goodheart discovered in the 50s or 60s. If you have low adrenal output or are under lots of stress (of any kind), your adrenals won't be able to do their part to keep your pelvis stable and you can end up with a wonky pelvis and lower back/SI pain. I think one reason SI pain can crop up in pregnancy (in addition to just general physiological changes) is that the first tri is such a taxing event on your adrenals. I hadn't been noticing my SI joint feeling "stuck" for a while, until right after I got pregnant and it cropped back up.

In my nutritional therapy class, one of the group leaders is a chiropractor who knew of Dr Goodheart's work and was getting frustrated by how many of her peers were treating pelvic instability just with adjustments and not with addressing a potentially underlying adrenal problem. Really interesting.

Here's a more in depth explanation:

cagnew I had SI pain with the last pregnancy, and it still pops up from time to time, especially if I am laying flat for a period of time. I expect it to return during the second half of the pregnancy I found some exercises/stretches that gave temporary (sometimes VERY temporary) relief. If you google "SI exercises" some stuff on youtube comes up. I am planning on trying a massage therapist this time around to try to help it. If we can find the money, that is. I never heard that about the connection with a tilted uterus. I have a tilted uterus...hmmm. I will say that even though it royally sucked with the last pregnancy, it wasn't a problem during labor at all.

Sacral pain

Anybody dealing with or have tips on managing sacroiliac pain?
