tinytina Hey everyone,

Trying to distract myself a lot right now. Been working on cleaning up the kitchen cupboards and clearing out the spare bedroom (we got a storage unit starting this Friday). Also finishing up my course (ends on Aug. 8th)

Thanks @chuord . Hope the trigger shot went well.

Sorry to hear this cycle was a bust, @radiowave . We were previously looking at IVF with ICSI.

Hi @tracyamber
chuord Thanks Tracy!!! I'm always stalking you in the grads thread
Radio - some do the testing, we don't or haven't. Our doc says it's only about 85-90% accurate and is expensive considering that... He thinks the materniT blood test is more accurate... However if there was a history of genetic issues it could save the heartbreak of a later m/c like adie had.
Ask the doc what vitamin supps will help dh as well... Everything to build stronger Sperb is good!! We do 50 ivf and 50% ICSI each time to hedge our bets.
I'm soo excited to get these eggs out, overall I feel much better than the same time last retrieval, but I'm being fairly diligent with my food and everything to help it stay that way
Radio - it is exciting, you never know what you'll get from this whole ttc adventure!

Thinking about you!!!
radiowave Done with the trigger shot; congrats, Chuord! Feeling ready for Friday?? Will your dh be with you?

Negative pregnancy test at the clinic this morning. Unsurprising. So happy not to take my progesterone this morning!
They said no point in testing my levels.
So, now one cycle of bcps and then IVF some time in September! Does that make me waiting to O?
DH's sperm count was so low after washing (went from 3 million to .5 million) that doc is going to do ICSI (injecting sperm directly into the eggs). He suggested dh see a urologist, as well.
So, I will have about ten days of injectables and a different kind of progesterone (endometrium, I think the nurse said.) Hopefully it will cause fewer side effects.
Doc said they would do a 5 day transfer of two blatocysts.
We also discussed doing genetic testing of the blastocysts. Apparently it is almost never covered by insurance, and would cost at least $2,500. We are supposed to let them know if we want to do it next week because there is a whole lot of planning involved, and it changes the schedule.
Has anyone here done it?

I hope everyone is well.

xoxo
Aimee

chuord Pupo - pregnant until proven otherwise
Afm - was quite scared of having the trigger shot last night - lol the point of no return! Or that could have been cos it was 1045 pm and dh had to wake me up!
tinytina Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing well.

I hope this is a good chance @chuord , feeling pretty good about it all right now. Scared to do too much though- stupid stuff like bumping my stomach etc. Sorry you are sore but glad that it sounds so promising for Friday!

Fingers crossed for a good ultrasound @adiejan . Thanks hun. I am actually trying to stay positive and excited.

Thanks @tracyamber . PUPO? I am so ready to be on the graduates list. Glad you are starting to feel better.
07-29-2014 09:48 PM
tracyamber Im so excited for everyone!!!!!!!!!!
I'm reading along but not posting much.
@tinytina congrats on being pupo!
@chuord I will be thinking about you on Friday!
@adiejan did you say when your estimated transfer will be or when will they take embies out for thawing? Oh, and I did not do patches, just injections.
@radiowave sorry for your negative tests. It is better to wait before stopping the medication because there still is a chance .have you had that conversation with your RE to see if he can do your IVF cycle without birthcontrol pills?
Afm
All is good. I think my morning sickness is finally subsiding. Can't wait for you all to be posting on the graduate thread!!!!!!
07-29-2014 09:34 PM
adiejan @radiowave -they were actually frozen at 2pn so we will thaw and see how they grow. Hopefully we will put back two. Sorry the progesterone is hard on you!
@chuord - I have a cd 14 u/s on the 6th and will no more then. So either the 8th or 10th I'm thinking. Pretty exciting! So excited for you on Friday. Sounds like an excellent crop! Hopefully lots of frosties to go with your others too. It makes sense to me that you are responding better on lower stims. It seemed like with higher things kept going wonky. I have a good feeling about you this cycle.
@tinytina - it's fun to hear you so excited! I hope your 2ww isn't too long
07-29-2014 03:19 PM
chuord Adie - how many days till your fet?
Tina - woohoo for being in the game, bet you're so excited to know you're in with a good chance
Radio - how's the journey going? Have the progesterone nasties backed off?
Afm - just finished at the re, all good booked in for Friday retrieval... 14-16 follies, all even and around 18. He's really impressed that I've worked better on lower stims... Ovaries are heavy and sore - looking forward to having my precious cargo extracted
07-29-2014 04:57 AM
tinytina Hey!

I am cautiously optimistic- I am trying to be more patient then normal. Thanks @adiejan

I didn't have to lay down. I agree, I had a bit of cramping though. Seem to be feeling better this morning. Thanks for asking @radiowave . Sorry to hear about your negative test and the progesterone causing you a lack of sleep.
07-29-2014 04:44 AM
radiowave adiejen-how many are you transferring this round? were they frozen on day 3 or 5?

Yes, we will be moving on to IVF. Another negative test this morning, and can't wait to stop to progesterone so I can get a full night's sleep and have a day of clear thinking, but I am afraid to stop until the results from the blood test on Thursday.

Tina-How was it?

When I had my iui they only had me lie down for 5 minutes, and I had some cramping later. ````
07-28-2014 09:37 PM
adiejan @tinytina - will you put me in IVF/FET waiting to O

Glad your IUI went well! Good luck on the 2ww...it's the worst. Well I just hate waiting
@chuord - any timing update?
@radiowave - sorry you're feeling down about this cycle. Sometimes you just know. We decided not to do PGD testing on our embryos. It was lots of extra money and we pay out of pocket. It could result in another loss for us but I'm just going to direct my energy positively. Our last loss was a turners syndrome baby . I have a good feeling about my frozen embies though! Will you move onto IVF?
@Xerxella @tracyamber - do either of you ladies have any experience with estrogen patches?
07-28-2014 06:58 PM
tinytina Any changes to make? Updated to here
So excited to change my status to TWW for the first time!
07-28-2014 06:55 PM
tinytina Thanks everyone for all your support. Everything went well today. Having to wait for the doctor was the worst part- full bladder and a 20 minute extra wait. LOL! Bad combo. No restrictions for activities and we just have to wait --they call this the Two Week Wait- I go for a blood test on August 11th. I know I will probably take a test a day or two before that

Thanks @adiejan

Glad your appointment was so successful @chuord . Fingers crossed dear. Thanks! Also thanks for all your helpful and useful information.

Thanks @radiowave , sorry that you are not feeling it this month. Fingers crossed that your appointment and blood test goes well. Sorry to hear you are not feeling well.

Thanks @tracyamber . I am so excited and nervous all at once.
07-28-2014 04:24 PM
tracyamber Good luck tomorrow tinytina!!!!!!!!
Great news @chuord !!!!!!!
07-28-2014 03:39 PM
chuord Radio- hugs on feeling awful on progesterone! Hopefully they will be able to check your levels and balance it out a bit...
Re ivf - it's one of those things that's an optional extra, you pay more for it - and depending on your fertility issues history the doc will either recommend doing it or not, of course if you want to do it regardless it's your choice - we've never done it.
Re 'embryo' I think it's just the easy term that most people understand, strictly speaking a 3 day transfer would be between a morula and a blastocyte, while a 5 day transfer should have progressed to a blastocyte getting ready to hatch and implant. (Blastocyte is when the cells tissue in the fertilized egg separates into two types /groups - one becomes the embryo and the other the placenta. Lol yep I read up way too much detail
My doc told me that the point where the two types of cells develope is a big stepping stone and a point where many fertilized eggs fall by the wayside - which is why if you have multiple options by day 3 they prefer to grow them out to day 5. Re which egg is best - aside from genetic issues (which the extra testing usually picks up) they rank the blasts fairly thoroughly - search for ivf blastocyte ranking to get a good idea. Essentially they give a number indicating what stage it's at, then two letters I can't quite remember but one is for cell uniformity of size and I think the other is for the way the cells are grouped. Aa being the best and down to dd which they call a dead duck or no hoper. Anything between has some chance... Hope this helps!

radiowave Tina-good luck tomorrow!
Chourd-great news!
Adiejen-How are things progressing?

And hello to everyone.

It has been up and down with the progesterone side effects…a few ok days, a few bad days, but I have not felt like myself since I started. I am going to see if they can check my levels when I have my blood test on Thursday. AF expected Weds. Took an early response this morning and it was negative. Feeling pretty sure this is not my month. Appt with the RE on next steps on Friday.

An acquaintance of mine did IVF recently and they did genetic testing on the embryos (are they embryos then) before implantation to make sure they were using the healthiest ones. Is that standard?
07-27-2014 08:17 PM
chuord Tina - we must've crossed posts, that is great news!!! Good luck tomorrow!!!

Yeah @adiejan glad you can do a cycle this month too! I never did figure out when I O'd last month (this will be our first month trying IUI). I had a faulty test this morning, so I tested again 2 hours later and got a positive. Got hubby to check too. LOL! So we decided to try another test 2 hours later and it looked just as dark so we are feeling pretty confident about it.
Yay!! So excited for you! Good luck tomorrow!

chuord Ok back from appointment - all good! I'm actually stimming faster than I did on a higher amount of fsh... There's around 14 follicles (one 15, a few at 14, and a few smaller) and I'm going in on Wednesday to check, but likely collection on Friday - seems soo fast I'm grinning like an idiot - soo happy with my body and ovaries right now lol.
For anyone who like numbers, first successful (retrieval) cycle I took 187.5 gonal f, this time same med but only 162.5 and retrieval will likely be a day earlier this cycle... On the cetritide now - yay I don't want to lose any of those follicles.
Adie, Tina, radio, Oxford - any news?

adiejan @tinytina - I'm sorry the opk isn't coming along. Did you catch your o last month? Are you testing twice a day? I wonder if you should try that.
@chuord - your 'pimping' cracked me up!! How are those injections coming along love? What are you doing this time?
@tracyamber -ok...so isn't the core hard to eat?

AFM: going ahead with FET this cycle! Yay! I'm on estrogen patches. Has anyone had them before? I'm feeling quite emotional but not sure if it's AF or the patches or both haha! My sister had her baby on Friday. She is beautiful! I'm so happy and love being an aunt but just praying I'll be next on the mommy train!

Hi @Xerxella ! It looks like we will thaw 4 and see how they progress and then decide what to do from there. He said we could do a 3 or 5 day transfer. I am kind of miffed that they put 4 in one straw and 1 in the other. Oh well, it is what it is. I'm just glad we have some!
07-26-2014 02:23 PM
chuord I'm with alivewithyou Tina... Try and stay relaxed, if the opk gets darker but you can't tell it's positive - ask them for a blood test... Over monitoring will be less stressful for you... Did you end up with an idea of what day you o? My regular is day 19, trust it's going to happen xxxx

Don't lose hope. In my experience the day that I started crying and losing hope I would get a positive opk lol. It will happen before you know it.

tinytina Hi everyone,

AFM: CD 13. Another negative OPK this morning. Trying to stay positive but finding it a bit difficult.
07-25-2014 08:12 AM
tracyamber No, I ate pineapple core starting the day of a 5 day transfer . Then the next day, next day,and next. 0

tinytina Hi everyone,

AFM: No positive OPK but the line was darker today than yesterday.
Tomorrow we are going to a mutual friend's wedding.

Hi @adiejan

Hi @chuord , I think I am just looking for anything I can control.

Thanks for stopping by @Xerxella , how are you doing?

Wish I had some advice for you @radiowave , have you called your doctor?

Hi @tracyamber , thanks for the good advice about the pineapple core

Hi everyone!
07-24-2014 11:46 PM
chuord Thanks Tracy - so you eat it before transfer and on the day of transfer? I just started on transfer day last time - whoops!
Xerxella - great to see you here too I follow you all on the grad thread but don't feel I can comment... Lol maybe I don't want to jinx myself. Are you actually relaxing into everything being alright? Tracy are you? I miss you two being here all the time
Radio - just do the best you can, if it's incredibly bad ask your doc for bloods to check the progesterone level - if it is really high then maybe he'll let you wean off a bit.

Afm day 4 injections, nothing exciting just that slow increase of tenderness and slight irritability. Been out 'pimping' my husband lol (dropping off referral pads to dental practices) sales is hard work not my thing at all
Anything new?
07-24-2014 06:31 PM
Xerxella @radiowave - It always took me about 10 - 12 days to work out the trigger. So, 8-10 dpo. Your mileage may vary.
