AAK State History is a pain. However, we found something that worked for us last year. I am in WA state, but here is the link for CA:

This comes in a bundle 4x during the year. It looks kinda like a newspaper. The bulk of the newpaper is about the state history. There are other things too, that tie in with other subjects. We ignored the tie-ins because I was actually using this as a guide for my 8th grader. There is a teacher's guide that comes with the packet; it includes answers, etc.

The packet provided a lot of good information, but most importantly, it worked well to guide us through state history. I supplemented with the library and fieldtrips.

Hope this helps!

Fourth Grade California History Curriculum/Book Recommendation?

Hi there!

I'm looking for a good, secular curriculum or book for my 4th grade son regarding California history. Does anyone have any recommendations? Even just a workbook, or a guide would be helpful because then I could check out other books from the library. But I need a backbone to start me off.
