Though the contamination was discovered on May 23, Dr. Frieden said that he was dismayed to discover that senior C.D.C. officials were not informed until July 7, and that he was told only 48 hours ago.
Haven't read these yet, someone posted the first link in the comment section on the NY Times article...

|fruitfulmomma||Just skimming some of the comments and it brought a question to mind... do you think that those who received the vaxx are still immune? Since we are now seeing the failure of some many vaccines from both lower efficacy and lower lifespan than previously thought I wonder how this one might hold up.|

Forgotten vials of smallpox virus found
I mentioned this on another thread but thought it needed it's own...
The CDC let the WHO know about the find and invited the WHO to witness the destruction of the vials, which is the standard protocol any time anyone finds smallpox samples unexpectedly.
