Ragana Later this afternoon we have an appointment, so I'll stick a chicken in the crockpot. Pescatarian DD will have leftover vegetable curry from yesterday. I'm itching to go to the Korean store today and make something Korean tomorrow... Otherwise vegetable soup with a can of tomato juice that needs to be used up.

Yes, simmer the halved onion in the sauce. Usually, we then take it out, but this time I left some in and blended the sauce again. This is a method we learned from an Italian-American friend. It's so good!

apeydef We went to my dad's teamster day and he grilled steaks. My Gma brought potato salad ( she makes it the best!) and my aunt brought a Greek and an another kind of salad. It was delicious. Better off i didn't have to cook
Tonight is cheese, chicken, veggie and rice casserole. I have a rotisserie to use up. I made the rice two days ago too thinking I was making it yesterday but we went to my dad's last minute.

Ragana DH made pizza from Trader Joe's dough. Pretty good. Tomorrow chickpea and potato curry with rice.

Today I also managed to get a pound of pasta cooked up and a quart of spaghetti sauce made for DD's lunches/after-school meals. The sauce was 2 cans of diced tomatoes (blended until smooth) cooked up with a halved, peeled onion and some chopped garlic plus a pat of butter, salt and pepper. Simple, but good.

Kate&Joey Very lazy here and the fridge is bare so got takeout. Stromboli, salad, and a glass of red. That's pretty much my perfect Sunday dinner.

kitchensqueen Leftovers from last night since husband is working - the spaghetti with Italian sausage marinara sauce.

Usually Curious DS(8yo) fave: salmon patties, jasmine rice, and broccoli

I'm exhausted (30 wks prego), so nice and easy

Ragana I found a recipe online for coconut lime chicken and have made it twice in 2 weeks. Last night we had guests so I served it with rice, salad and broccoli.

Love leftovers day - it's like a personal mystery box challenge.

I've got half a jar of marinara sauce in the fridge, so I doctored/stretched it with ground Italian sausage, a bit of white wine and a little water. Serving over spaghetti.

kitchensqueen Spaghetti with jarred marinara sauce here. I didn't even bother to doctor it up. Fancy-like.

Kate&Joey Food Truck Friday! Horribly bad for us, but delish. Chicken and waffles and chicken and fries. I don't usually eat chicken, but these are so spicy and yummy!

Sno-cone truck for dessert. DH and I had an 'adult' - pina colada spiked with rum.

apeydef Oh and I also made chocolate chip cookies. I used whole wheat white flour. I've never done this before, I usually use unbleached flour when making cookies but they turned out good!

apeydef Finally making my BLTs tonight before all my tomatoes go bad. I already had to throw some out and u had to put the rest in the fridge bc the fruit flies were everywhere. Cottage cheese and pineapple on the side.

newmamalizzy Leftover carnitas in burritos w/mango salsa, corn and broccoli.

newmamalizzy My mom sent us home with the world's most gigantic tub of meatballs/sausage in sauce with several boxes of spaghetti and a bunch of ice cream sandwiches. She claimed they go with the meal. Okay..... So, anyway, that's what we had, with a salad.

Ragana Pasta here with a jar of sauce doctored up with extra mushrooms and onion plus leftover ground beef. Broccoli on the side.

apeydef Rotisserie wraps/ salad tonight. Fresh garden tomatoes, avocado, lettuce and feta.

Ragana Smart plan! We very rarely get power outages, so while I had candles and flashlights, I didn't think to do stuff like throwing the meat from the fridge into the freezer when we had the outage last week. :-(
09-10-2014 09:57 AM
apeydef I did not end up making the BLTs. We were out late and ended up ordering pizza and salad. Tonight we are supposed to get severe weather so if power goes out it's cold pizza for dinner lol. If power doesn't go out it's still leftover pizza. I didn't go out and get any groceries in case we lose power. Luckily the pizza we got yesterday was a huge pizza so it's enough for two days.

Kate&Joey I think BLTs were the one tomato dish I did NOT serve with all of our tomatoes. Duh!

Last night was a zucchini and carmelized onion gallette. Served with tomato salad. The pastry turned out really well...I usually don't take the time to do it right!
09-10-2014 06:27 AM
newmamalizzy Mmm, yeah, BLT's with fresh summer tomatoes sound wonderful.

We're going crock-pot pork carnitas tacos with avocado and green salad tonight.
