Outofmymindyo Well, we're not that great at making rice to begin with and living in Japan just makes us want sticky rice rather than regular rice, so our rice cooker is a must.

We also wouldn't like to be without the microwave either. Matter of fact we just bought our new one yesterday since we left our old one behind when we moved.

Penelope Upright mixer and washing machine. I don't have anything listed in the OP except a microwave - isn't that funny?

Coffee bean grinder is pretty nice, although I could use an old-fashioned coffee mill just as easily, if I had one.

SiValleySteph The two we use the most:
Coffee maker
Rice cooker

DH does use a french press at work and I don't mind making rice on the stove, so we could probably go without. We hardly use our microwave.

fek&fuzz coffee maker
hot water heater
toaster

I had a microwave and just used it for the timer, when that broke I took it to the dump and bought a timer. Certainly made for a lot more counter space.

DebraBaker Coffee maker (yes, I've boiled water, put the filter in a styrofoam cup with a hole in the bottom and it was a pain in the ass.)

Rice cooker.

Microwave.

boongirl I could live without most of the above but the water heater is definitely something I would never, ever live without. Cold showers No baths. No warm washing clothes: How would I wash my face

I was forced to use a potato peeler while my mom used the paring knife, I hate using a peeler they take longer for me, I only use the peeler for carrots.

BBerryBliss Gosh, umm I dunno. I've lived without a lot of modern things, including a water heater and it wasn't too bad. I'd say my fridge I wouldn't/couldn't live without.

My microwave is a big clock too! DH uses it more then me, but we wouldn't even have one if MIL hadn't insisted that we "can't live without it".

Kathryn Microwave. My daughter would kill me without it. She refuses to think about eating or what she wants to eat until about 3 minutes before she's having a freaking breakdown because I can't fix what she's picked out fast enough.

sapphire_chan What convience items would you never want to do without?

For me it's:

electric kettle
rice cooker/steamer
smoothie blender stick (I don't have a regular blender anymore)
toaster oven

and of course, the microwave
