heaters are not recommended for most of the soft-sided professional pools (Aquaborn, La Bassine) as it can melt the material the pool or the liner is made out of...

you know, even though we may come to the table with a lot more knowledge of what we'd want and how we think things should go, it's hard for a doula to be her own doula during a birth... everything...

* air pump - to quickly inflate the pool
* 2 hoses - one is a drinking water hose (so the hot water doesn't leach PVC/lead/etc. into the water welcoming your baby)...

i haven't been dilated or effaced before labour either time... but i efface and go from 0-5 in a few hours, 5-10 in an hour...

i never felt like i needed to use them, as i had minimal swelling/bruising and no tearing... TCM would dictate that you should avoid anything cold postpartum...
