Have you tried the knot genie or the wet brush? My dd has curly hair that tangles super easily and what I do is spritz with water, then conditioner spray and then use the wet brush to de tangle it....

Ours is on our cement patio within 10 feet of the house. But our grill is also natural gas, so there's no risk of a tank exploding. When I grill, I monitor it frequently.
