I cut PUL however I can get it to fit. The 1mil stretches more than the 2mil but I don't think they stretch enough to really affect sizing if you cut randomly to maximize yardage. ymmv!

I wouldn't be afraid of flannel if you get the good diaper flannel stuff. It won't get stiff. Regular flannels will get stiff. Birdseye is great too. Both of those need 6 - 8 layers in the soaker...
