Labor and Birth, Waterbirth, Non-invasive Birth Practices
My 7 year old was diagnosed last November with type 1 diabetes. I hate to give any flu vaccines and have never given them to my children. With a child who is otherwise healthy what can I do to protect and treat her if she were to get the virus. And how do I state this to a medical world who does not choose to accept people who choose not to vaccinate.
Ask your doctor to provide the results of randomised controlled trials confirming that the ratio of benefits to risks of flu vaccine in the case of a diabetic child is positive. This sort of trial is considered the only valuable one to evaluate the effects of any medical intervention, particularly the use of drugs. Since this research has not been done regarding flu vaccine the doctor should answer ’We do not know’. As long as one cannot answer your questions with scientific data, we are in the realm of opinions. You should therefore feel free to follow your intuition.
