Mary Rose Tully, noted IBCLC, passed away January 20th surrounded by her loved ones. Mary Rose Tully was a much loved lactation consultant, an Adjunct Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina's School of Medicine, and Director of the Department of Lactation Services at the University of North Carolina's Women's Hospital. In the 1970's Tully founded the Piedmont Milk Bank, later known as the WakeMed Mothers' Milk Bank and Lactation Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2007 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award award from the Human Milk Banking Association of North America, an organization she helped found. She was, at all times, an ardent advocate for mothers and babies and will be greatly missed.
