MOTHERING MAGAZINE'S 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND MAY 12-14, 2006

Santa Fe, New Mexico -
Mothering magazine celebrates 30 amazing years in print with an unprecedented, dynamic array of art, music, food, drama, film, fashion, and fun. Join us for this family-friendly weekend of celebration. Details, schedule, and tickets are available at www.mothering.com/anniversary. Sponsors include Putumayo Kids, Whole Foods Market, Glamourmom, Round Belly Clothing, Hyland's, Expressiva, Mother's Touch Oils, International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

The celebration weekend kicks off at Mothering magazine's office in the Second Street Studios with a free Open House and Anniversary Party on Friday, May 12, from 3:00-8:00 pm. It will feature the Art of Mothering exhibition and live music from Asheba, Putumayo Kids' award-winning Caribbean performer. New Mexico cuisine, a photo shoot, puppets, and other special performing guests will entertain both children and parents alike. Visit the vendor booths of local and national companies offering organic clothing and bedding, baby accessories, healthy snacks, natural body care, fair trade items, books, music, and valuable information for new families.

Saturday, May 13, at 1:00 pm join us at The Santa Fe Film Center, 1616 St. Michael's Drive for Mothering at the Movies. Be a part of the first audience ever to preview Being Born, a PBS special produced and directed by Christopher Carson and Suzanne Arms. We are honored to present the premiere, unedited, sneak-peek of this remarkable documentary. Like Mothering, Being Born frames birth as a sacred, normal, and natural event, and promotes evidence-based birth practices. Experts in birth advocacy comment on the radical transformation childbirth practices have undergone during the past 100 years, highlighting the dramatically different options currently available to mothers and their families. This provocative screening will be followed by a lively panel discussion.

The celebration continues at the Film Center with In the Mother Tongue, a poetry reading evoking the depth and breadth of family life's rich interior. Finally, don't miss the opportunity to chat with Peggy O'Mara, Mothering's beloved publisher and author of four books, at A Quiet Place: Conversations and Booksigning.

Saturday evening, we head over to the Armory for the Arts, 1050 Old Pecos Trail, for a Silent Auction and Reception to benefit Many Mothers, a Santa Fe nonprofit offering vital support to families with newborns. At 8:00 pm, Project Life Stories presents Mothering: The Monologues. This theatrical production focuses on personal experiences of motherhood. In a therapeutic monologue process, we shine a spotlight on the stories of our lives to celebrate the rich diversity of mothering experiences.

Sunday, Mother's Day, mothers and others spice up The Green Canteen, 1616-A St. Michael's Drive, with a mouthwatering Mother's Day Brunch and Hot Mamas Fashion Show. Don't miss this all-out feast for the senses! Dine in style, noshing on a sumptuous buffet as you drink in the best contemporary designs, including maternity, nursing, babywearing, and children's fashions. It will be a stunning soiree to honor the beauty and power in all of us!
