Paper Dress Mother Tree Project

Artist Helen Hiebert is creating something truly inspired and she needs your help. The Mother Tree Project is a global collaborative art project celebrating motherhood. The display, which is scheduled to appear in Feb/Mar 2010 as part of the Portland Building's Installation Space program in Portland, Oregon, will consist of a life-sized paper dress strewn with strands of croqueted "roots". Symbolizing the mother as "provider and nurturer throughout human development," the strands will cascade to the floor and "grow" throughout the life of the display.  Hiebert is asking for croqueted chain donations from around the world to incorporate into the exhibition. To find out how you can take part visit The Mother Tree Project blog.
