Judy is an award winning speaker and presenter of workshops and seminars on a variety of parenting topics. She is a well-known Canadian expert on parenting information, having given advice for television interviews, newspapers, and magazines such as Chatelaine, Today's Parent, Canadian Living and Canadian Family. She also founded Attachment Parenting Canada. Her specialty is behavior, and non-punitive discipline (communication based, not behavior modification) for all ages of children, which encompasses many areas of parenting such as:

  • Parenting partner style differences
  • Children's temperament, personality preferences, and intelligence's
  • Managing parent anger
  • Sibling conflict resolution
  • Promoting healthy self-esteem
  • Healthy communication for relationship building
  • Ages and Stages - developmental milestones and stages

Her background includes a B.A. degree, and an Advanced Toastmaster Silver speaker award. She has been employed by Calgary Health Region, Perinatal Education, for the past eight years and Families Matter Society for the past ten years, teaching Positive Discipline courses for thousands of parents. Judy has delivered hundreds of quality parent education programs at schools, libraries, corporate workplaces (through LifeSpeak Canada) social agencies, and private organizations.

Judy has also published hundreds of articles written on a variety of parenting topics, including discipline, in Birthing Magazine, Birth of a Mother, Natural Parenting, and Calgary and Edmonton Child's Magazine. Her articles have also been featured in newspapers and formed the basis for many TV and radio interviews.

As authorized facilitator of the Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) series, which she teaches at the University of Calgary Continuing Education Department, Judy has also helped develop and present the Alberta-wide, Three Cheers for The Early Years, Terrific Toddlers five-week course curriculum.

Judy is author of Discipline Without Distress: 135 Tools for raising caring, responsible children without time-out, spanking, punishment or bribery. Having read 289 parenting books, and combined with her experience volunteering on the city-wide crisis telephone line for 13 years, Judy has a broad understanding of the issues facing parents and relationships in the new millennium. She is a believer in helping parents make informed decisions based on researched parenting information, and that peace in the world begins at home.
