Joe Kelly, 48, father of 22-year-old twin daughters, is co-founder of Dads and Daughters(r), the only national nonprofit dedicated to the father-daughter relationship. DADs provides education and advocacy to strengthen those relationships and to galvanize fathers into social action that benefits girls. Kelly also serves as Publisher of the national newsletter "Daughters(tm): For Parents of Girls" which DADs owns. His bestselling book, Dads and Daughters: How to Inspire, Understand, and Support Your Daughter When She's Growing Up So Fast (Broadway Books/Random House, 2002), is praised by Dr. Mary Pipher as "an essential aid for fathers of adolescent girls." Kelly speaks around the country on fathering healthy daughters, and has appeared as an expert on NBC's Today Show, NPR's Talk of the Nation, The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Time, People, The Nation, and more than 200 other media outlets. In 1993, Kelly and his wife Nancy Gruver founded the international ad free, girl-edited "New Moon(r): The Magazine for Girls and Their Dreams" -- five-time winner of the Parents' Choice Foundation Gold Award. A gradutate of the University of Wisconsin, Kelly grew up in New Jersey. He and Gruver live in Duluth, Minnesota. |
