Mindy Pennybacker edits The Green Guide, a national consumer newsletter published by the non-profit Green Guide Institute. The Green Guide provides practical information on healthier, more ecologically sound products and actions, and reports the latest studies on the links between our personal health and the environment. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where as a surfer she became committed to protecting the natural environment, Mindy lives with her husband and son in New York City. A graduate of Stanford, the University of Iowa Writers Workshop and the University of California, Davis, law school, she has held writing fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Wallace Stegner program at Stanford, and the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole; published articles and stories in The Nation, The Atlantic Monthly, Sierra, The New York Times and elsewhere; and coauthored Mothers & Others Guide to Natural Baby Care (Wiley, 1999).
