I am a lactation consultant and I had a patient here last week who named her baby Rowan. When I asked them about the name, they spoke so passionately about the Rowan tree and its mystic roots (no pun intended!). I was very moved by what the told me about the Rowan tree and I would love to get them a small gift for the baby (or parents) involving the Rowan tree.

I have read online that the Rowan wood is often made into charms--but I can't find anywhere to buy some. I also read about Rowan wood wands--but all the wands I have found are very expensive.

any ideas for me--or ideas on where I could buy rowan wood charms?

autumnspath.com has beautiful rowan goddess pendants ..

ETA: rowan is also european mountain ash, you might try a search under that? Saplings are only 14.95 at http://gurneys.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_08788 and are hardy from zones 3-7 (Most of the northern US border to the northern panhandle of texas)
