What are the age restrictions for children riding in the front seats WITHOUT an air bag? I know that children cannot ride up front WITH an air bag but what about without?

My car is a 87 wagon with a jumpseat. The jumpseat broke this weekend and I had to put the three youngest in the the second row and the oldest in a booster up front (no air bag). It is not ideal but it is my ONLY option.

I am curious to know about the laws in different states?

I think... in Texas... it's like...12? I'm not sure... fortunately for me, we have a minivan (so suburban! and no kiddo is allowed in the front seat...

Well, good thing we aren't in Texas.

Anyone know how I can find out for sure? Any ideas or websites?

but I also read a study and I am thoroughly depressed. Children in the front without an airbag are not safe. Children in jump seats are not safe. And the ONLY place a child is safe in in the middle seat of a forward facing bench seat. But what do you do if you have more than one child?
