Hey guys! I am new here, so I hope you don't mind me jumping right in with this.
At 18 weeks, 5 days, I had my anatomy ultrasound. At that ultrasound, baby had his/her legs crossed tightly and would not budge. So we could not find out the gender.
A few days later, at 19 weeks we went to a private u/s to try again. Baby was still in the same position. The tech got me to take a break and eat some chocolate, and that was enough to make baby move around...I was unable to get a 3d picture, as my placenta anterior, but on regular ultrasound the tech said she was able to tell that baby was a GIRL! She says she saw the "3-lines" indicating girl, but I couldn't make out what I was seeing on the screen.
She looked a few times more and said that she was confident we're having a girl.
I am so happy, but a little in shock. DH's family hasn't produced a girl in 70 years. So now I am doubting how accurate my u/s was...and don't want to dish out another $100 to try again.
Can you folks take a look at the scan and let me know what you think?
(I really can't make out anything in this picture)
(in this one I *kind of* see the lines, but still not overly clear to me...)
Baby A - our little girl!
Baby B - our little boy!
my pic was a lot more obvious for a girl. Boy pics usually have something hanging. I am not a professional but not sure I can tell on yours.
Here is my pic of my daughter. For what it is worth. Dd1 is the 2nd female ever to be born on dh's side of the family. It had been several generations. (dh's great great grandfather had 8 boys and 1 of those boys had a girl). Now we are having our 2nd girl so it is definately possible.
nicole , mom to 3 boys here on earth 9, 7 and 4.5 and 2 girl's 2.5 and 10/16/11. Always remembering my babies in heaven: Sam (9/7/05) at 12.5 wks , Morgan (2/13/06) at 6 wks , Emeric (8/9/10 at 17 wks) and Pepper (11/26/10) at 8wks.
Thank-you for the quick responses so far! I feel good knowing the tech said she saw 3 lines, but it's still so surreal to me! She also did say the cord was going between the legs, but was more around the leg area, so she was still able to see what she needed to see.
I don't see boy parts, but you shouldn't assume girl just because you don't see boy parts. I think I see the three lines. If the tech said she saw the labia, based on the pictures above, I'd say she's probably right!
I love making a home for my man in uniform and my children.
