Don't worry , you didn't mess up. We've traded before and I definitely think you are a fine swapper
Someone got a few things and even at brand new, they wouldn't have added to $20, so putting a TP trade value on your items is fine IMO because thats what they'd resell for. For me, sometimes I send exactly the $20 value, sometimes more if I have more of what the person wants, and/or need to clear stuff out, which I ALWAYS NEED TO DO...lol
Just be honest. Don't send someone a stained diaper and doubler and say its $20 , especially when the diaper new is not worth that and the person asked for stain free items.(This is not what happened, just a for instance...lol)

Thanks Chris...I just get nervous, I guess. I'm sorry people haven't been happy with their swaps, that would not be fun...

I always worry if I sent enough or too much , although too much just makes for a really happy swapee.

Me too. I'd like to get feedback FIRST on packages that people are not happy with.

Also, remember that different parts of the country have different costs of living. THe east and west coast cities may be more expensive. For example, I bought a Dr. Dears book at a thrift store for $3.00 here in Seattle and it might go for $1.00 somewhere else. If I were to include it in a swap, its value would be $3.00 b/c I bought it specifically for a swap. Also, the books that I haven't bought at a thriftstore but bought NEW and never used, I try to look at Amazon.com for a reasonable used price (i usually value it at the lowest.) Also, the Mothering Boards are a good place to check out prices for diapers as I tend not to know what they are worth.

I recently bought a used CD specifically for a swap and paid $8.00 and valued it at $8.00 b/c it was on the swapees list and I didn't use it myself.

I would suggest communicating with the swaper FIRST. See what they were thinking then decide if you got ripped off or not. (Sorry to be so blunt but .....) And telling them may give them an opportunity to redeem themselves. They may send you something to make up for the error.

JMHO,

if anyone thought my swaps were not worth the $15 posted for the diapers and $20 for the mixed swap. I really need to know. I would hate going around thinking all was okay it is was not. KWIM? As someone already said here, we all value things differently and interpret things differently too. To me used clothing is just that used. Regardless what I could get for it on eBay it is still used and I am not going to value it higher then garage sale prices unless it has never been worn. Does that make sense? I usually go over the estimate simply because it is hard to get it on the nose. In my opinion that is what I do but hey maybe someone has a different idea and if so I have to know.

ok - i am getting paranoid now. some of my packages are bigger than others because i may have more of whats on the person's list. if i don't have alot on the person's list, i try and make sure the items i do include are in perfect condition. i'm bad with assigning value to things - i just dont know what things are worth. i just know i won't send junk or things i wouldn't appreciate getting.

if someone "blacklists" us - how do we know if they don't tell us? do people complain to you then you mention it to us?

geez - this kinda puts the pressure on and puts a damper on the fun

Hey mamas...don't be all worried

Really, I follow this rule: I send a package I would love to receive. I figure you can't go wrong there.

I send (IMHO) very nice swap packages, and, except for a few exceptions in the beginning (when I was too much of a novice to say anything) I think I've received wonderful swap packages in return.

If you put thought into it and truly believe you have sent a nice package, then think no more about it. If you follow your heart, you have done no wrong

We're leaving this am for Illinois then making a stop in Delaware on our way home.
We'll be back on Friday morning. If anyone needs me, I'll be checking email daily. I will try to get to the boards but its dial up service where we're staying and I don't have the patience for long waits...lol

Have a great holiday week everyone!!

Thanks mama...this discussion has gotten me worried about sending out my first swap packages...but I'll take your advice and make it things I myself would like to receive!

Ladies,

I am not going to be online alot over the next few days.
While we were in Ill, we got a phone call that my great grandma passed . We lived with her and took care of her and my cousin was with her while we were gone.

The swap is still on, but I may need an extra couple days with so much on my plate right now.

We are home now and tending to details
