Anesthesia effects on Infants

Hi Everyone! This is my first post to this site, my son who is 10 months old is suppose to go in for surgery this Tuesday to locate an undescended testicle. We have yet to locate one and the urologist wants to go in lap and see if there's one to be located. I made the unfortunate mistake of searching the effects of anesthesia on an infant and read some concerning information that there have been studies showing learning disabilities noted on children who have had surgery as infants and that it can cause learning disabilities as they age. What has everyone's experiences been with their infants and anesthesia? I was told my son would be under general anesthesia for approximately 30 minutes. My husband and I are completely freaked out and thinking about cancelling the surgery. Thank you in advance for any of your input!
