FOOD part II !!!

I am so obsessed with food!!! First trimester, it was McDonald's and now I must have healthy, sensual, beautiful food. I am not even a very good cook, but I am so enjoying (especially since I'm on vacation from work for two weeks) preparing and eating wonderful food and adding to a food pinterest board and reading my favorite blog (she's local to my area: http://www.feastingathome.com/2014/1...mon-salad.html

For my first breakfast, when the house was quiet, I made for myself pan fried purple potatoes, two farm eggs over medium, a little chopped tomato and avocado with lots of sea salt and cayenne and a slice of my friend's gifted sourdough bread. I was totally blissed out, it was so amazing LoL

Then for my second breakfast when everyone else woke up I made waffles (hubby is gluten free but I love, love the Pamela's Pancake Mix) in my waffle iron that were perfectly golden brown with slabs of cold butter and a dab of maple syrup along with some bacon yum.

Did I mention I love food right now?? LOL

Me, 42
Hubs, 44
Married 22 years
Two boys 11 and 9
and a HUGE surprise: EDD June 4th - BOY #3

Yay for being into food again!! I still have some food "moments" but am also growing to love it. DH is making his super delicious black bean soup for din din tonight and I can't wait. Also, we went grocery shopping today and I lined up my most recent and upcoming baby fruit/veggie sizes in the cart (apple, avocado, onion, small sweet potato, green bell pepper) and it looked so cute!!! i'll be hypocritical if i tell baby not to play with his/her food...

Fireflies your first breakfast sounds so amazing!

I feel well most of the day, but usually start crashing by 4/4:30 and DP doesn't get home from work till 6 then we eat at 6:30. Tonight for meat,E's Monday I'm cooking some whole wheat spaghetti and topping it with some organic tomato sauce out of a jar with a salad and a side of broccoli. Not exciting at all, but my family all LOVES it, so I don't feel too bad.

I made a veggie wrap on a whole grain tortilla. It had hummus, cheddar cheese, black beans, lettuce, tomato, bell peppers, and cucumber with a squirt of Italian dressing. I had sweet potato fries on the side.

I'm starting to eat like I did before I got pregnant! I'm so glad because my first tri I was so sick and when I did eat I just wanted junk. It made me feel really guilty. We did stuffed peppers in the crockpot tonight and they were so so yummy. I made chicken florentine last night and I seriously wanted to eat the whole bowl. I'm really trying to watch my sweet intake. I do not want to go over 200 this time

Today I made a beautiful quesadilla with cheddar, black beans, chicken, green peppers, green onion. It stuck to the pan and fell apart and then a 20 min sob session ensued.

I am on a green smoothie kick. Kale/spinach, blueberries, banana, coconut milk, etc. I feel like I am doing something really healthy for the baby when I do this.

I had a huge chopped salad and was feeling really good about that. Then DH brought me a maple croissant and strawberry milk. I had to show my appreciation and eat both obviously, lol.

I have been a huge fan of the green smoothie lately, too. It's nice to finely have a craving that I can feel good about nutritionally!

If you want your smoothie to be really silky smooth add 1/2 an avocado. I love that. I am still going with the green smoothies. Sometimes I add cocoa powder and make a chocolate one.

I am going out for dinner with some friends tonight. I am going to enjoy the greasy pub food fare.

Yum yum yum!

I've been resisting green smoothies - the idea of them - but it may be time to take the plunge!!!

I made one with spinach or kale, avocado, blueberries, almond milk, peanut butter, vanilla, cocoa powder and some maple syrup to sweeten it a little. Put the peanut butter on the bottom so it mixes in better.

I have to say - since I've changed my diet (and it's only been a week, so we'll see if I can keep it up), I've been feeling physically better. Last night in class I felt so much more alert. I would describe what I'm eating now as kind of like a "backpackers diet" - high protein whole foods, light meals many times a day. It's also making me realize how much sugar DH eats -- typically we always characterize me as the sweets monger, but my goodness!!! He eats something sweet nearly every day, I guess I never noticed because I usually do too.....

I made the baked lentil rotini. My daughter loved it and had seconds. Fart jokes ensued because lentils make all of us gassy. lol.

I think I may just make some salsa chicken breasts (Just bake a chicken breast with salsa and cheese on top) tonight as its easy and its just my daughter and I.

I am planning on getting back into the habit of a green smoothie every day. I really like one with banana, orange, pineapple, spinach, and a slice of lime. I add a bunch of spinach and it's delicious. I am looking for ways to keep my irons levels up.

I enjoyed every bite. I have raspberry leaf tea, but I have read so many things about when its a good time to start. Some start right off the bat and other wait til the 3rd trimester. Either way at least by the 3rd trimester I plan to start RRL tea and evening primrose oil.
