Involving older children in pregnancy & growth

So with my 2nd pregnancy my son was only 2+ & so generally discussion about baby & a few children's books was plenty.

This time around we have a 8 & 5 year old & they are pretty excited, especially the 5 year old. I was thinking of setting up something in the house so they can visualize how big the baby is & see growth. Anyone else do anything like this?

I know some people use apps & just have kids follow along but I was hoping to do something more accessible to them that they could look at whenever they wanted - maybe a poster or white board where I write the week, how big baby is & a few other little tidbits?

Doula mama to dd (Oct '11) & ds (Oct '08) and expecting (Apr '17)

That sounds like a fun idea! I have a chart that has toys that are around the same size of the baby so I tell Lilah every week. Once we get closer I was thinking of doing some sort of countdown, but I don't want her to be too excited since babies never rarely come when they're due..

I would draw objects that they know/could touch on the whiteboard, like "today the baby is as big as an apple," etc .

We also have "The Facts of Life" by ****** and Pelham which is the most amazing pop-up book! I think it's out of print, but I got it used on Amazon. My kids love to pour over it and move the body parts around. It does have ALL the body parts involved in making a baby, as well as a baby in utero, so that may not be everyone's cup of tea. But it makes descriptions of how the baby "gets out" a lot easy to be correct about (my kids are very imaginative, so I try not to be too vague as it's hilarious what info their brains fill in if I leave it out!). It doesn't have a week by week (we just look online for that), but it does have milestone pics from fertilization till end of gestation. I'd say for inquisitive/mature 4 yr olds and up.

Following!

I had a 8 and 5 year old when my last baby was born (now, I have a 9, 6, and 1 year old), and I tried to share with them as much as possible. My five year old was also very curious. I never figured a great way, so I'm eager to know what you come up with

Maybe this is a bit too late, but a nice idea would have been to take side pictures of your belly and put them together on your computer. that way your kids would be able to see how much the baby has grown inside you. Maybe it is not too late, you could try it out.
