Gestational diabetes testing?

I know this was mentioned somewhere in another thread but I can't find it now. Is anyone opting to do glucose testing at home instead of the lab work? It's something my midwife talked about and encouraged, sounds like it may give us a more accurate picture overall.

If going that route, do you have any good resources for how to do the test?

You mean as in doing a food journal and testing your blood sugar at home? I've been considering asking about it after I threw up the "juice" last time.

@justlizzy exactly. I'm looking for a guide to testing and "normal" ranges.

@lerlisha I don't have any good info for you, but we talked about this yesterday and I'm going to do the test, but not till 28 weeks, and I'll be drinking regular ol' apple juice with 50 (whatever the measurement is - mg? g?) of glucose. I'm glad, because I almost threw up the grape juice last time, it was so thick. I think drinking apple juice will be easier, its more liquidy. I'm also excited because now I have a renewed sense of purpose re: counting my protein - I made little printout sheets last night to put on the fridge and calculate how much protein I'm getting every day. I feel like the last few weeks I've been focusing too much on the bad things I've been eating and not enough on eating GOOD things, if that makes sense. I'm off to a good start today, 67 grams and counting
