Gah! There are so many different suggestions online....do use bleach, don't use bleach, do use TTO, never use TTO, etc. etc.

My boys wear Fuzzi Bunz and I need to treat them for yeast. What do I use?

Hi,

My kids have had yeast infections here and there but I never treated the dipes any differently. Hot wash w/deterg and hot dryer cycle or hanging them in the sun should do the trick! I don't use bleach and tto gives my kids rashes. Some people say use GSE (grapefruit seed extract) but I don't know whether this really does anything in a large load of washing.

I used vinegar and dried on hot. I know many websites say not to use vinegar because it can kill the elastic, but I've done it here and there without problems. I doubt once would hurt. Some suggest sunning the diapers to help kill the yeast.

Ok, GSE is $20 per tiny bottle locally. I told dh not to buy it!

I already have some TTO, so I'll try that along with drying on a high temp. I unfortunately don't have a place to sun them at where they won't get eaten by the neighbor's dog. I use vinegar with every wash already due to our well water making the dipes stink.

thanks!!

High heat should do it -- make sure to run them in the dryer on high heat twice if possible.

GSE from our health food store is a lot cheaper than that, but even the expensive bottle lasts FOREVER. It's totally worth it if you can find some you can afford. We add it to the bath water to prevent yeast from reoccurring.

Good luck, Mama!
