Okay. I'll get it right this time! Congratulations on your decision to become a doula. There are several programs out there, and you should check them all out to decide which program best fits your needs, style of learning, and expectations. You can start here:

www. alace.org
www.dona.org
www.cappa.net
www.chilbirthinternational.com
www.birthworks.org

The childbirth international site has a chart that compares and contrasts these and a few other programs, and that may be helpful. However, before you spend a lot of time with that particular chart, I'd peruse all the sites and see how you like the "feel" of the organizations. I think that Dona may be the most well known, but I also think that they have paid well for good avertising and name recognition, not that they are necessarily the best institution to train everybody. I think that Alace, Dona, and...maybe birthworks are the three oldest, but oldest doesn't necessarily mean that it meets your needs or style of learning. If you can't afford or don't have time to travel to a workshop or host one (if you host one, you get it free), you may prefer cbi, as they don't require a workshop. Good luck in your search.

Mama to two awesome kids. Wife to a wonderful, attached, loving husband. I love my job-- I'm a Midwife, Doula and Childbirth Educator, Classes forming now!
