My nipples have been on fire for the past week. They hurt all the time. I checked the baby's mouth last night and he doesn't appear to have thrush. Is this thrush and what can I do homeopathically? I'd take us both to the doctor but we are uninsured for the next 2 weeks.

eww thrush is some nasty business. Yes, you can have it and the baby won't show signs of it. Here are some really great links that will give you some homeopathic ways to cure it. Hope it helps!

OUCH! Sounds like it could be thrush...is there any itching? To get you through until you see a doctor (if it's thrush that is) STOP eating all sugars, this includes natural sugars like honey and maple syrup too! Then get some gentian violet from the store and swab your nipples well. It is ok if the baby nurses with this on your nipples. Check baby's bottom, is she showing signs of thrush there? Sometimes the mouth isn't necessarily showing signs but the other end does. Regardless, both of you have to be treated, because if you don't it will just get traded back and forth. Also, eat plenty of probiotics (PLAIN) no fruit or sweeteners. Eat all the fresh garlic you can stand. Some people swear by taking grapefruit seed extract or caprylic acid supplements to get it under control.

The following link is a great resource and may help you figure out if you truly have thrush plus there are some great links to alternative treatments.

Thank you!!!! He's got a rash on his butt for the past few days that he's been scratching and I KNEW it wasn't a diaper rash and thought maybe heat rash, but even that didn't seem right. I don't know how I missed that! You guys have been a huge help!
