Vimala in Waldorf - how does this look in graduates?

Our first grade teacher wants to completely skip using the printed upper and lowercase letters and teach just the Vimala Alphabet (which is a 1990s phenomenon and not a traditional Waldorf thing). I'm concerned that after barely getting started on printing in grade one, the students who don't even have those hand movement memorized are going to never use that again and learn completely new movements. And then in the next grade they learn cursive which will be different again. I'm not a fan. Any Waldorf parents want to weigh in?

Married my husband in 2007 & welcomed our first little boy in March 2013 and second boy in December 2015 | We are serial expats on our third international relocation. We are into slow food, organics, holistic health care, attachment parenting, child centred learning, traveling with children, home birth and breast feeding
