Baby is 11 months, and at meal times will cry and act anxious if he doesn't get to taste some solid food. However, when I have given him solids, he would get constipated and have discomfort and crying bouts for days until I give him enough prune juice to get things going again. I've tried to make sure he has fibrous foods, and easily digested foods, but I'm not sure what to do here. Anyone have experience with this? Advice?
This happened to my little guy, and what helped was to make sure that he drinks water with his solids. He needs a couple of ounces with the meal. I also make sure that he gets water throughout the day, but I should say that he also nurses just as much as before solids, so he is not replacing nursing with water - he is increasing his over all fluid intake.
Stewed prunes or pears once a day helps too - but the water is the most important thing.
Thank you so much- that's helpful. The only thing is: he doesn't yet know how to use a sippy cup, and definitely not a bottle. I've tried different types, but he will only bite them, not suck. But I will try to get him to drink out of a regular cup...
