My beautiful girl nursed for the last time on Friday night. For complex medical reasons I had no choice but to wean her, and as a committed CLWeaner this was possibly the hardest decision I have ever had to make

I nursed her in her room until she fell asleep. I stroked every inch of her, and told her how much I loved her, and how grateful I was for the amazing gift that she had given me, and that I would always treasure the memories of holding her to my breast, and seeing her smile with her tongue curled round my nipple. I told her that I loved her sweet milky breath, and that I was so sorry that I had to take this away from her so soon. I thought my heart would break

So here I am, with the ache in my heart matched by the pain in my poor engorged breasts. Somehow it only seems fair that it should hurt this much

Please tell me that this sadness passes...

Oh mama, my heart breaks with you! Try to focus on the time that you had, and know that the cuddles aren't at an end. The same tenderness and feelings of love that you described in your post can still be present in cuddling without nursing. I know it's not the same - how I know - but it's still amazingly special. And no one can take away the memories of your nursing.

I'm so sorry you feel sad about this. Please, please, please take care of yourself for the next few weeks, I'm sure your hormones are all over the place. Consider doing something to commemerate the precious time you had and let yourself mourn for the time you did not.

Oh, poor mama!! When I saw the age of your child, I realized that she's the same age as my baby Alina. Your post brought tears to my eyes. I am holding you and your sweet baby in the light...

Love and strength to you,

Kia

I don't know the exact reaon that you stopped but it sounds like you were left with no choice. This is sad, and I can feel the passion you had for it in your thread post. I will pray for you mama. I hope you are both comforted and feel better soon.In my thoughts and prayers... Foxxymama

your post made me cry. s i can't say if it gets better, but it gets easier. you will always have your memories! i would write down how your breastfeeding relationship made you feel, you can give it to her someday as well and it will help preserver your memories of it while they are still fresh.

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. But you will always know you gave her the best possible, and still are. The cuddles don't stop, and even my almost 5 year old ds often snuggles my breasts fondly.
