I have never, ever, ever had ANY idea how many times we nurse in a day. How many of you have "times" that you nurse? Like, you know that you nurse approximately, give or take, x times a day.

I have NO idea for us.

A lot. Dd is 18 months and loves numnums. Teething doesn't help, either.
I've considered counting, recently. Just because it's so many!

I try to *count* every few months when the thought strikes me, but it's inaccurate at best....

Basically she nurses a bunch. Always has

I've always been able to keep a rough count, like it used to be 3-5 times and now it's only once or twice a day.

every now and then i'll do a past 24hrs count, to give myself an idea. and when dd1 was waking all night long i was morbid enough to count (the most was 17 times in 11 hours).

these days (dd2 23mos) i tend to count to assess when i'm worried we're not nursing enough, for milk supply reasons.

I can't with my 1 yr. old and couldn't with my oldest until about 3.5. They nurse(d) a lot. A number of times? Maybe 15, 20?

My oldest is 4 and nurses twice a day, sometimes 3 times. He mainly just nurses first thing in the morning and before bed. My little one 16 months and nurses probably 6-8 times in 24 hours. She pretty much nurses on demand still (I may delay her for a couple of minutes, but still allow her to nurse as soon as I can), and wakes once or twice a night to nurse.

Jill stillheart.gif Chris (7/96), mommy to 3 sweet redheads: jumpers.gif Matthew autismribbon.gif (12/02), Michelle (8/05) and Marissa (1/10). Nursing since 2002.

I wonder if the "not really counting" or whatever you want to describe it as types of personalities are more likely to follow their child's lead for nursing? I was thinking that if I were aware of the number, or expected a certain number, or something like that, it might be a very different experience.

I don't know...

Anyway, off to try and nurse this little one to sleep -- it's frickin' 11:13pm and I made the mistake of encouraging a nap today. Ohhhhhh... the nights are hard when she naps!

My daughter will be three in March, and nursing is still basically her only form of liquid intake (aside from watery foods like applesauce and yogurt). She does nurse a lot, and unfortunately, mostly during the night because I am a teacher and I go to work 5 days per week. Over the night, I would say she nurses 4-5 times. I have never even thought to count, though.
