Are some states better for allergy sufferers? I moved to WA state about 17 years ago and immediately had severe allergies to the tree pollen- when I never had allergies to this before. I seem to be allergic to the plants here- some years are better than others.

When you grow up somewhere, do you get immune to the local pollen? Or are some states just nastier for allergins?

Thanks!

I'd like to know that myself. I have lived all over the US and I definately feel better in the dryer areas. I lived on a little island on the coast of Washington state for a year and was sick all the time. I now live in upstate New York and have alot of trouble in the summer when it is hot and humid. I really wish to move to colorado, new mexico or arizona, but I can't seem to convince dh that it would make a differnce. Our doctor says it doesn't matter where you live, your allergies will follow you around, but my experience says thats not entirely true.

Thaks for the replies! Checked out pollen.com and it is medium here today.

Lindy, I noticed a real diference we we left WA this Spring for over 2 weeks- both ds and I had our allergies clear up tremendously and return when we got back.

Yup, when we moved to WA (Pullman, actually) from Nevada, allergies started popping up; as well as asthma for me. They're a little better since moving further north, but they're still kicking my butt sometimes. I don't think the crop-dusting and other fun farming chemicals help. My IL's have allergy issues as well, which they never had before in all of their previous 14 locations throughout 12 states (they're in Pullman right now).
