Just wondering when the average CLW'd child will wean naturally. When did yours give up "the boob?" Please don't answer if you encouraged weaning more than "don't offer, don't refuse."

My DD forgot how to nurse on Halloween when she was 40 months old. She tried a few more times over the next few days and couldn't remeber how to suckle. We talked about it and came to the conclusion that she must be done. No muss, no fuss.

I always thought the "natural" weaning age coincided with the loss of the "milk teeth" or baby teeth. This would mean my DD should have weaned at age five, but my friends son should have nursed until age 9! Perhaps i am mistaken though .

Mom to three 14 y.o. rock star grrl, 5 y.o. knight in spazzy armour and baby Juniper, born still @39 weeks 4 days 2-3-10 .

DD had a really bad ear infection which made her not want to nurse so she quit just before she turned 18 months I really did not want our nursing relationship to end, but everytime I tried to nurse her she would get upset and wouldn't do it. After the infection was gone I still tried to get her to latch, but she wouldn't do it anymore--I was so sad!

DS is still nursing strong at 20 months and honestly I am going to do everything I can to make sure he continues nursing as long as possible!

Barbara:  an always learning SAHM of Ilana (11) and Aiden (8) living in Belgium with my amazing husband.

Wasn't there a docter that did a study and compared humans to other mammals. He or she said by looking at the age we lost our milk(baby) teeth and developemental stages it was around age four or something.

Can't vote yet, but my 3.5 year old is still going strong as is his 10 month old sister. It will be interesting to see what happens.
