I asked DH to get me a one time cleaning service for th house for mother's day. We got an estimate from one person. $195 and that's a one time regular cleaning not a deep cleaning. That means no baseboards

So would you spend almost $200 for a house cleaning? I'm starting to not like my "dream house." It's too big for me to keep clean and too big for me to afford to have it cleaned.

I guess it would depend on how much sq ft you have, whether it's worth $200. Has he tried a national chain like "Merry maids". Someone dh knows just checked them out and got an estimate of $56 per hour (the cost includes the price of a team of 2). They gave their estimate in how much time it would take 2 people to clean it, based on sq ft & type of cleaning needing to be done.

that seems high. How many hours of work is it for?
When we had a one time cleaning done, we got 2 people for 4 hours for less than that. They did whatever I put on the list for them, mostly deep cleaning stuff. I think it worked out to about 15-20 dollars an hour per person.

my house is about 2500 or 2600 footage. I thought it seemed high but my friend thought the price would have been higher. I just don't like the idea of paying that much for something that will not last.

That seems like quite a lot of money - have you tried advertising in a local paper for an occassional housekeeper? Maybe that way you could find someone who could come in for 3 or 4 hours at a time, and get things done that way...
