I woke up at 1am after going to bed around 11. I was having regular not too horrible contractions that I couldn't sleep through so I got up and went downstairs so I didn't disturb anyone. By 1:45 I woke DP because it was starting to get hard for me to handle on my own. I phoned the midwife and she and her apprentice arrived around 3:30. I was at 4cm and very excited to finally really be in labor. She gave me a tincture of cottonwood (?) something because my contractions were about 9 minutes apart and we definitely wanted to see if we could encourage things a tiny bit. She went to lay down and at 4:08 my water broke. I stayed with the apprentice for a while but after about half an hour I really wanted her to come back. They started filling up the tub, but only got it about 1/3 full before my water heater was empty. They started boiling water to add to the tub but I was starting to worry they wouldn't get it filled before I needed it. At 5am my mom and dad woke up and it started to get a little hectic in the living room so we retreated to the back bedroom. I labored on the bed for a bit, and then at 6am I started to feel a lot of pressure and get shaky like I was heading into transition. I was at 6cm. I then had three really horrible contractions I shrieked through and then I felt the need to get in the tub. The first contraction I had in the tub I felt my body trying to push. When my midwife check me at 6:09am I was complete.
I pushed on my hands and knees for 15 minutes and he was born at 6:24am.
His stats (I hope you're sitting down!)
10 pounds 2 ounces
22 inches long
14 1/2 inch head
Apgars were 9 and 10

I didn't have a single tear or any trauma at all. His birth was so perfect and only about 5 hours long with only about 2 1/2 hours of intense labor.
He is SO cute. Pictures to come soon.

Congrats and welcome BIG baby winter!!! There were 10 people viewing the November DDC as I posted this... I think a lot of us were all checking in obsessively waiting for your baby to be here. Congrats and thanks for the update!!!

Oh hooraaay!! : : :

Congratulations DiD, the day has finally come! Your baby has finally stopped clinging like a little monkey to your spine!! I love his name, very cool. And no tears! Wow, good job! I think you'll find yor recovery to be soooo much more comfortable than if you'd had tears/stitches (this is my 1st with no stiches & woo-eee is it easier!)

I've been away a few days due to my horrendously painful clogged milk ducts, otherwise I would've commented on your sad, sad thread about your labor stopping. I'm so glad it didn't stop for long though!! I got the chills just now when I logged on & saw your announcement.

Have a delicious babymoon DiD. I can't wait for pictures!

Well, no wonder he waited so long! He wanted to earn his namesake, and some might still consider November as fall.

Congrats! What a big healthy boy and sounds like a great birth!
