Hi im Charlie and im 28weeks pregnant tomorrow. Im expecting a little girl who im naming Catlyn Jasmine. I can't wait for her to be here in the world. Im so exctied, but unfortunatley me and her dad are no longer together. Im 16 and her dad is 17 but he left me even before he knew i was pregnant, when i did tell him, he hit me in the stomach and then started demanding i have an abortion, i was so glad when i went to the docs after being hit they said everything was fine. Im not going to hide my age its not ideal bein pregnant at 16 but it happened and im taking responsibility for it and going to give my baby the best life i can. Looking to chat to any other mums.

welcome

I was 19 and had a similar experience with the dad. Being a single mother can be really awesome. The extra responsibilities and hard work also come with greater freedom and bonding with your child. If you are committed to making it work for you, it will all be fine.

Since you are still pregnant, I would recommend reading the homebirth and unassisted childbirth pages. However you choose to give birth, being well-informed can make all the difference. After giving birth naturally and nursing right away, any doubt I had in my capacity to raise that little one were gone.

I know that a lot of statistics are against you, but the mere fact that you are here on MDC shows that you can do it and do it well.

Feel free to PM me if you want to talk or for anything else.

Hi and welcome to the board and to motherhood!!!

I think it is ok to be scared. its kinda a big thing. I was scared with each one of mine. I still have days where I am absolutely terrified and they are 11, 8 and 5.

do you have a support system? friends who know about babies? family? support groups? take advantage of every class, support group, learning experiance, social service etc that comes your way. if nothing else you may hoook up with some other mamas who are walking down the same road as you.

The truest answer to violence is love. The truest answer to death is life. The only prevention for violence is for the heart to have no violence within it.  We cannot prevent evil through any system devised by mankind. But we can grapple with evil and defeat it, but only with love—real love.

welcome Charlie, and congratulations!! Parenthood is defiantly a huge step, but it's a wonderful start to be here and benefit from all those who have gone before you! Becoming a mother has been a huge adjustment for me, and I think that is true no matter what age you are.
I really commend you for deciding to be well informed before you baby arrives -- because you're young I be people will feel the need to give you a lot of advice and all I'm going to say is trust yourself and try to approach situations from a place of love and compassion

congrats again!

Some woman said to me once, "The best piece of advice I ever got was to not take anyone's advice". I agree with that because it's all about trusting your instincts.

Good Luck!!

Another young mama here to welcome you! I got pregnant at 18, had her by 19; now am 22 with 2!

I strongly reccommend just browsing around this site, especially the Pregnancy and Birth&Beyond. You can find women who are due around the same time as you to chat and commiserate with!!

Big welcomes! And if you need anything or want to chat, feel free to PM me!

welcome! where abouts are you located? theres a young mamas thread in the "finding your tribe" area which is a good way to get in touch with some really young moms and how they handle questions and problems. are you emancipated or still with 'rents? i think the HARDEST thing of being a young mom at 16 is not having the legal governing you need! i know its hard to do ANYTHING when you can't even open your own bank account.

i was pregnant at 18 and had ds at 19 and i am also 22 with 2 and i can certainly say that i am one of the youngest people see in my playgroup. i think its very rewarding as well and I KNEW i could never give up my babies just because I wasn't prepared! GL!

Luckly in the UK you can have you own bank account and everything at 16 which is good. My parents are also letting me still live with them for now, and when i get lood test done to prove the dad of my baby is the dad he will have to pay money for her even if he isnt on the birth cetificate.

I got pg with my oldest daughter when I was 16 and had her when I was 17. I now have 4 kids and I am 24. It's difficult, but wonderful to be a parent so young and don't regret it a bit.

Welcome to MDC!

I have learned so much about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and raising kids in general here. I wish you all the best in your journey as a mom.

I was 16 when I had my daughter. I am 34 now & have 4 shorties. I was SO so happy to learn I was pregnant as well. It was so weird because everyone around me didn't share my joy. They were all like "well..sigh.... life will be tough." And there I was doing the happy dance in my heart every second! I was single as well. Thankfully I had my wonderful mama for support. There was no internet back then though. Oh how I wished I'd had access to something like mdc! It would have changed my life. I'm so glad you're here! It's a great place to learn. I say, get comfy & start reading. Especially the natural birth info. Birth is so empowering & amazing, you will be floored. And having a baby is the best thing in the whole world times a million, regardless of your age!

Congratulations!!
