I have supply issues and have been feeding DS powdered organic formula sense the third week. He is now 4.5 mo.s and I am new to TF but am reading Real Food and found a link to the WAP site and a recipe for homemade formula. Should I make it with raw milk? It says "unprocessed" is that raw?
TIA

It does mean raw milk but I wasn't able to get any raw goat's milk. I used store bought and my DS thrived just fine on it until I was able to breastfeed him again.

I've been making the NT formulas for my DS for a while now. I use raw cow milk and past. cream b/c I can't seem to find raw cream. I use goat yougert whey that we make from store bought yougert, although I've been meaning to try to make some out of the raw milk. I also sometimes add goat milk keifer b/c I feel like the powered probiotics get lost it the mix. Since my DS has been snotty lately I've been trying out the meat formula and cutting it some with coconut milk and an herbal tea I make for his coughing. We found w/ the meat formula that the CM plus a dash of maple syurp is nessesery or DS won't take it. My DS is much older than yours though and eating some solids, so that is why I feel comfortable to change the formulas around some.
HTH!

I used raw goat's milk and made a formula until I resolved the root problem.

Do you know why you have low supply? If you have an anatomical issue ignore me, but most don't.

It could be a matter of inefficient nursing, lack of peristalsis, poor transfer, tongue tie, your hormones, underlying gut issues, lack of ductal tissue, lack of establishment etc. Have you worked with anyone to try to deal with it? There are many galactgagogues that work in different ways and can improve even the lowest supply.

If you can increase your supply (which can ABSOLUTELY be done at this point) you'd have even less to worry about.

I am working (hard) to increase supply but it may be an anatomical issue. I have a great lactation specialist and I tried/am trying everything under the sun. I hope a diet improvement for me will help and in the meantime I am looking for the best possible alternatives for DS. I do produce some milk and we use an SNS for all FFs.
Thank you for your concern.

sorry, by anatomical issue I meant mastectomy or the like. If ever feel like you want to discuss, let me know. LC's are not all created equal and some can miss pretty big things. I'm not saying yours did, but sometimes it helps to talk to others or get a second opinion.
