I'm looking for a CD that tells children's bedtime stories. The only ones I have found seem to be for preschool age children (ages 4 and up). I'm looking for one for a two-year-old and that is about an hour long. Is there such a thing out there??? My daughter fights going to sleep and I thought that if she listens to bedtime stories she may forget to fight it and drift easily off to sleep. (This may not work, but I can dream!)

On a side note: She already listens to betime music/lullabies and that doesn't seem to be working!

Thanks,
Joy

You could look for some books on cd (audiobooks) at your local library....

This sounds like such a good idea that could work for DS.

Two ideas:
1) Livelier, more engaging music. My dss fall asleep to any kind of music, not just "bedtime" music. They love Raffi CDs.
2) There are many kids' books on CD/tape. Browse at your library. One we have and like is "Moonbeam Bear". It's probably 15 minutes or so. You could put one on repeat?

My SIL used/uses the stories from Your Story Hour. You can listen to some of the mp3s on the site. The kids still love these stories. http://www.yourstoryhour.org/transaction.php

Daffy Dave Bedtime Stories and Lullibies from the library! We have to buy it we are about up on it's renewal limit. My 2.5 year old loves it! The stories are cute and simple and not too long.

Jim Weiss has a magical CD of bedtime stories that are totally appropriate for a younger child. We were given it and it saved us many a time.

I recommend a selection of short stories for bedtime that way if she falls asleep mid story its no big deal. Here are some free resources to get you started:

From Librivox.org

Children's Short Works Collection 01

Children's New Story Book

The Frog Prince and Other Stories

The Real Mother Goose

The Golden Goose Book

do a search in the librivox catalogue under genre "children" and you will find tonnes of choices!

and from lit2go.com

Beatrix Potter

Just so Stories by Rudyard Kipling (believe it or not my 6 year olds favorite still...and the 4 year old likes it too)

They have a bunch more...just do a search here

Oh and finally just in case I missed something I am linking to my first post about audio books because I have included all of my best links there and keep adding to the post as I find more so I have it in one handy accessible place LOL.
