The "What are you eating" thread got me thinking we should share ideas to help improve our diets.

What are your favorite snacks?

Such a great thread

I am always looking for healthy snacks that I can quickly pack up for work or on the go.

My favorites are:

cheese and crackers (so far my biggest craving, I want them all of the time)
cottage sheese with fruit
cottage cheese with candied nuts and dried cranberris
apples and cheese
any kind of fruit

I like a Luna bar for breakfast, but I don't like sweet snacks. I really need to plan ahead and pack snacks early.

Oatmeal.
a nice cup of cocoa (made with milk)
when I'm really starving...eggs! Yum yum yum.
toasted bagel with peanut butter
homemade apple crisp -- with oatmeal topping -- and peanut butter! Sounds weird but it's so good.

Hmm..I'm all about the carbs and the comfort food.

Wild idea. I like both but had never thought of them together!

Great idea.

I'm all about the cheese these days, especially when I get that OMG I MUST EAT NOW feeling.

Other favorites:
almonds & dried apricots by the handful, esp. at work

tomatoes & mozzarella with a bit of oil and balsamic. Not the healthiest ever (fresh mozz) but bliss this time of year

granola bars

apples and other fruit

hummus & pita chips. Again, not the healthiest (pita chips) but easy and yummy.

Peaches are in season right now and OMG they are so good. I told the farmer that they are like crack for me LOL. I've been loving apples too. I'm so glad I live in apple country. If you can, get your hands on a Paula Red.

Mine are:
steamed organic greenbeans (by the pounds baby)
cheesesticks
peaches
grapes
raw nuts
reheated veggie pizza (I get a huge one and keep it in the fridge for snacks, something about it keeps the constipation away!)
oatmeal square cereal
