Please, please, please can you tell me your Z name? Will you just whisper it in my ear?

If you walked out the door and found a $100 bill on the ground, what would you do with it?

Do you have a favorite part of the song "Stairway to Heaven"?

Hi!

How are you feeling today Ralphie?
good, thanks. I've actually felt great the entire pregnancy- no complaints. I had ms the first bit which was no fun, but other than that it's been smooth sailing!

Is this your first?
Yep!

Names?
We are superstitious and keeping names a secret But I will tell you we will probably end up using our boy name for a girl too since we never found a girl name we love. And I love unusual names.

What is your secret pregnancy vice?
I guess checking MDC while I should be grading, like right now!

City or country?
I live in a city/suburban area, but I enjoy the idea of living in the country.

Cats or Dogs?
I love both, but we will never have any pets- my DH is deathly allergic. I had dogs growing up.

What's your favorite hobby?
READING! I read voraciously and read about 3-4 books for pleasure a week.

Any other children?
Nope!

What is your favorite breakfast?
Potato pancakes and bacon, but I hardly ever have that. Usually I eat cereal.

What was the last movie you saw in the theater?
There Will Be Blood- I loved it! I plan on seeing a ton of movies next week once I am off work and waiting for baby.

How do you picture your life in 10 years?
Pretty much the same as now- teaching at the same place (I have tenure so I'm not going anywhere) but with a 10 year old. And maybe a 6 year old- I'd like to have my kids 4 years apart.

Please, please, please can you tell me your Z name? Will you just whisper it in my ear?
I'll PM you if you promise not to use the name Maybe we've got the same Z name!

If you walked out the door and found a $100 bill on the ground, what would you do with it?
If there was no way to return it or turn it in, I guess I'd give it to DH to spend- he's been so accomodating and nice during the pregnancy and takes such good care of me. He deserves a treat!

Do you have a favorite part of the song "Stairway to Heaven"?
Nope- I can't even think of the tune to that song right now!

Do you have a focal point for this birth? If so what?
Yes, I have some birth art we made during our childbirth class, as well as a big canvas that my friends made during my blessingway.

Do you have something you have from your childhood?
Yes, a few toys. And my mom gave me the outfit they brought me home from the hospital in and some blankets from when I was small. I won't be using any of it with the baby, but it is nice to have.

Keep 'em coming ladies!

What makes you want your kids 4 years apart?
Mainly due to developmental issues- I want our child to be able to better cognitively understand adding another baby to the family. I also feel as though it will be easiest for our family to have our children spaced far enough apart that we can AP the way we want to with them when they are small and by the time we have another baby the older child will be a bit more independent than a toddler. I work FT and tandem nursing, etc. would be more difficult for me. Plus the thought of chasing after a toddler while pregnant with morning sickness is more than I can handle!

What reality tv show would you be most willing to sign up for?
The Amazing Race, although I don't know how good I would be at it. Do game shows count? I was on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire about 6 years ago...

Which MDC smilie do you use the most?

What do you teach?
I am a professor of child development (focus is early childhood development- conception to eight)

Yes- it was the syndicated version with Meredith Viera, so the audition process was more intense than the prime time version but you were guaranteed a spot in the hot seat (since advertising dollars were less than in prime time they didn't want to have to pay to fly a bunch of people out who might never be on the show). It was a lot of fun, but I blew it on the $32K question and ended up with only $1000. If I had made it past that $32K question I would have walked away with at least that much.

I went to a cattle call audition at a local mall- they gave us all a multiple choice test, then took the top 5% of scores on that test and photographed us and had us fill out a personality questionnaire. Then I got notified a month or so later that I had been selected to move to the next round of auditions- I had to do a very detailed questionnaire/interview thing via phone and email (they were looking for personality etc. more than knowledge base), and then was notified about a month later that I had been selected to be on the show. They flew me out to New York, put me up in a hotel, and gave us a stipend each day (I think it was $100?). We were in contestant isolation the whole time, so I didn't get to do any sightseeing or anything, and it was the only time I've been to NY! I ended up being there for 3 days. My show aired about 6 months after I filmed. Overall it was totally awesome and fun, but I am still pissed at myself for missing that question!

Awww, man, that bites. I used to watch the show, so I totally get the importance of the $32K question. It sounds like a fun experience, though!

They're having open auditions at a local mall for Deal or No Deal, and DH wants to go. I told him that now is kind of an inconvenient time, but if he wouldn't even be notified for a month or two, it might not be so bad.

What was the question!?!?!
I hate to even say because I'm sure most of you will know the answer right away! It was something like "which of the following planets is never visible from earth with the naked eye?" The choices were Saturn, Neptune, Venus, and Mercury. I knew it wasn't Saturn or Venus, but couldn't calm down to think clearly enough to remember that Neptune is colder, so it's further away from the sun... I answered Mercury. DOH!

What's the last book you read?
Thunderstruck by Eric Larsen. It was very good- nonfiction that reads like fiction telling 2 parallel stories of a famous murder and the invention of wireless telegraph. It is by the author of Devil in the White Story (also recommended) and follows a similar style.

What's next on your list?
I don't know yet- I need to get to the bookstore or library and get some brainless reading for the next few weeks. I might reread some totally brainless Maeve Binchy or something in the meantime!
