The only reason we would circumcise is due to religious reasons. We understand there are no medical reasons. But as for religion, we're not frum, and there are many mitzvot we don't keep. We're not shomer shabbos and we don't keep kashrut. We've never observed taharat ha-mishpachah. So I guess I'm wondering why keep this one mitzvot when there are others we don't keep. It seems hypocritical to me.

Are there other non-Orthodox Jewish women out there who chose not to circ? I could really use some words of wisdom. What's it like for a boy being Jewish and not circ'd, in a non-Orthodox community. Help.
Hi there! I just wanted to say congrats, and yay for you for coming to this decision! This'll probably get moved to Spirituality, btw. They like to keep the religion out of here.

Religious discussion is absolutely prohibited in this forum so I'm going to stay far away from that but will send you some links by PM.

There are enough Jewish parents who are choosing as you are that it has raised concern in the community.

Maybe if you reposted in spirituality, you'd get a better response, because you'd have more Jewish women in particular reading the post. Just a thought...

A few weeks ago, in the Finding Your Tribe forum, there was a thread for Jewish and Muslim mothers who chose not to circ. I bumped it up to page one so you can find it easily.
My oldest ds, who is now 26 years old, is intact thanks to my Jewish homebirth midwife, who left her son intact back in 1978. I figured if she could leave her son alone, so could I. She also attended the birth of my second intact son, who is almost 18 years old. She has 2 intact sons, too.
You are not alone.
