My 17 month old has had a weird rash. At first I thought it was a food reaction and was desperately trying to figure out what he could have eaten. He has several food allergies, but we keep most of them out of the house. The rash looked just like the little hives he gets from soy. Except this rash was on his cheeks only instead of around his mouth as well. His cheeks were bright red and had even redder little bumps on them. The he got the little bumps on his tummy adn back, this faded and now the rash on his cheeks is fading. Isn't that weird? I just figured it was a food reaction and was ignoring it, but my neighbor's 2 yo has the same rash, just on her cheeks. I'll have to ask if she got it on her belly yet. THey've both had colds, everone is sick around here w/ a snotty coughy thing.
These are like little pimples, not big hives most people think of when they hear hives.
Any ideas? I'm not really worried about it at all, I've just never seen anything like this and am really curious about what it is. It's not typical roseola since it started and ended on the cheeks, adn it is more pimply than I remember roseola being. Both of our kids are unvaxed and they both had chicken pox last year. This looks nothing like CP either, although the bumps are about the same size. They're not fluid filled though, more like little hives. I'd take a picture, but ds's are almost gone and at this point they're unnoticable w/ his eczema (which he gets from it being cold and windy outside.)
